Jbasham my garage is attached to my house, and more specifically is under it. I learned on my first project to induce a negative pressure in the garage so air from the house will draw into the garage. I'm lucky enough to have a window in my garage. I made a dual fan unit that I mount to the window and seal around it. The air from the garage is pulled out through those fans creating a negative pressure. I can glass with resin while the door to the living space is slightly open and you can't detect a resin smell in the house, at all. I think duct booster fans I'm using for my window are about 400cfm each. They also have a secondary benefit of keeping dust out of the house. I've made the Admiral very happy with this setup.

Yup, that's how I do it . . . negative pressure (along with positive reinforcement :D ) . . . works for resin, painting, etc. . .

Installed cleats to hold down the last deck piece. Pink wire finally came so I worked on routing the sender wires and installed the fuel pick-up. Installed a new anti-siphon valve for good measure. One more last pic of the tank and stringers before closing it up for good.

And this subject is closed. Nice new solid deck glued and screwed.

I was also trying to think of how to provide drainage for my bow seat bases. While at Lowe's I found these.
IMG_1624.JPG

Please pardon the dirty fingernail, a hand model I am not. Anyway, these are plugs, but if you open them up with a 5/16" drill bit, the make a dandy drain port. The shoulder is countersunk into the deck.

One miniature drain toward the rear of each storage area. There will never be wet wood on this boat,,,, EVER!!

No Title

Got the deck all bedded in this morning. Had to use a bit of thickened resin with chop to get it leveled.

Tabbed in the bow seat top to the hull.

Spent the rest of the day fabricating the bench seat. I put it in the boat just make sure everything fit right. I think the first mate approves.

Sorry about the attachments, PhotoBucket is all jacked up for some reason. I'll try to attach images into the post later.

Nice work, she is going to be really solid when done. Theses Chararrals are nice looking boats, one caught my eye in a local C-list add but is was powered by a Ford/OMC combo beside I do not need another project boat LOL. Is that an Australian Sheppard helping you out? Have a great day.

Yep, that's an Aussie. I have two Australian Shepherds, best dogs on the planet in my humble opinion.

Nice job on the bench!! Are you doing The Upholstery work??

Thanks, I cut a few more pieces tonight, it will have better storage than the oem bench. For now I'm going to use the old vinyl. I will replace all the wood backers once I get my garage a bit more opened up. The vinyl still looks really good, and with a little heat it is still pliable. I do plan on having a professional replace vinyl later on down the road. I just don't have the patience for that very intricate work, and I won't settle for living with screw ups. I want it done right......I know my limitations.

I would have to agree with that. I have had many over the years and don't really feelthe need to have any other breed. We also have a weimaraner, my wife loves here and I can do with out. LOL

Here is pic of ours Oliver, I think he is the best one I have owned yet.

Now back to the boat, just keep plugging away at it, as you stated there are a lot of pieces to put the transom assembly and engine back in, you do have access to the Merc service manual as it is a huge help. Shoot me a private message if you need advice as I have done a couple engine installs in the last few years.

I am watching the clock myself as there are a ton of things my boat needs before splashing this season and it seems there is something every weekend to get in my way. Then of course work get in the way of everything.

Oliver looks like an awesome dog. Pretty unusual to see that much white on a red coat. The male we have is a full blown merle with one blue eye. We saved him from an abusive owner and he has turned out to be a fantastic dog. He is still skittish and a little shy, but a very good dog with the kids. We love our Aussies.

I have two more pieces of wood to cut and I'll be pretty satisfied with the bench. I went into my enclosed trailer and retrieved a couple vinyl pieces for a mock up. I wanted to make sure any trimming I need to do is outside of the boat. Waterproofing, and painting up next.

Ok, almost forgot the hole for the new speakers I am adding. Also filled all screw holes. I'm liking how this turned out.
