Now we're getting somewhere. Lastnight I went as far as I could go with the center box the resin was not catalyzed enough for the temp, I went conservative for working time I should've we all in. This morning everything was ready and after a quick hit with the sander to knock down any high spots it was ready for gelcoat. I filled the center spars with foam (filled a baggie with foam solution tossed it in the hole and waited) and then finally tab the spars in for the forward deck and get ready for the big moment when the fiont deck is in. 4 days of 80-90 deg weather sure made things easier, but then I was huffing and puffing because it was just way too warm for what I'm used to. Will we make the lake next week? Who knows?

Made the stiffeners for the hardtop mounts last night and added the PB to the perimeter of the deck where the hull and the deck meet.

The 1 gallon ziplock bag is my favorite weapon of choice with this boat rebuilding stuff. Put the PB in a gallon ziplock cut the corner and use like a caulk gun you can force the PB in the gaps really well.

Making some more progress the end is finally in sight. I made a bit of a miscalculation on the deck height at the front which left me with a 5/16" drop at the seam. I had played around with how to deal with it many ways and finally today I had a idea that would solve the problem. Yes I know I removed a bunch of material in a spot that will see a good deal of use, but what you don't see is the 3/4" piece of ply that bolsters that whole area about 12" either side of it.

After all that was done I worked on the step down to the berth and got it all smoothed out.

Then finally I got to lay the 1708 on the deck for the final component before gelcoat. If course with any great achievement there must be some issue. Yep it started raining.....Again, like normal. What would I do without rain . I mean at some point in going to need to try out the boat, can't do that without water right?

Well I didn't give up I did however take a break, a very long one. Starting back to work on the old girl. Last week I swapped out the old points ignition for the newer Delco EST distributor. Everything was off to a great start I got a few good coughs out of the engine to verify timing was in correctly with ether then switch over to gas in the carb. Everything should've been perfect, but the carb leaks and flooded the engine. I had it rebuilt last year by the guy I've taken several carbs to and never had any problems. This one is puking fuel out with a 5psi pump I'll have a talk with him Monday. I really want to ditch the q-jet and put a edelbrock 1409 on though.

You'd think the excess fuel would come out the vent though. I don't know why the seat would have anything in it. It's only had fuel fed by the fitting on front on the bench, before that was just a little down the vent tube to fill the bowl up for a quick run up.

Finally got some good weather for boat repair once again. Had been thinking about how I would contour the bench so it wasn't a toe buster.

I never realized until now that I could add a pulpit to this thing. I always thought they were more of a built in item .

Been away for a bit got some work done. Tomorrow I get to lay the final coats of gelcoat inside. I got the texture thing worked out. Was going to use soft sand, but I got to thinking and decided to try a grout sponge to make the texture. I added just a tad bit of cabosil to tighten up the mix but not make it super thick and just pour it out and blot it. Worked great.

Got the floor finally done. Couldn't spray gelcoat like I wanted. So everything was rolled on.

Jacked the boat up and got the trailer painted.

Working on trim now. Should be done by Christmas. Lol

Yeah hope to have some time with it on the water in July, August, September. June I'll have to slack off on this boat and get setup for my annual trip to the coast.

Yep. I really wait for the smiles on the water that's the best part, the lack of boat payments is always a plus.

Yes I have been told alot that is a plus when they find out I did mine.

In the final stretches of this job. The change from random construction to finished work is always fun. There's still a bit of work to be done, but I can see the end, rather the splishin and spashin behind the boat.
