Re: Advise please!

So call the guy, tell him you have a long drive and only $2000 to work with.... never know he MIGHT accept.... then you could steal some gas and take yer sammich with ya!

as for the 86 4 winns that's a big boat for a 4 cyl, otherwise we can't help ya cause we have absolutely no details about drive or condition besides get the mako and a twin mattress for the wifey..... you won't be sleeping cause that takes time away from ur boat!

Re: Advise please!

That is http://hartford.craigslist.org/boa/2791625260.html

normally I'd stay away from a trihull but it's cheap and has the cool puke green stripes.... and since it's all solied.... did I mention cheap..... never know, If you can stand being in it you could be on the water for $500 and do a lot of fishing while you save up for something better.

Errrr.....was just reading that a 17' Mako has a 850lb person weight capacity.....that would be my brother and I, with gear and a kid or two......

Still looks like fun though.....

Re: Advise please!

Yes, my boss would get a kick out of a Mohawk. But to be honest, I think my son wears them better!

Couldn't sleep and did some more searching......have another one that I could use a second opinion on....

http://capecod.craigslist.org/boa/2826929383.html

I'm sure it is an I/O, but the price is right, and with a sound hull may make for a good starter......eh?

Re: Advise please!

A number of things pop out at me about that ad.

1. Foam filled? Say what? Is that a statement, question or selling point pro or con?
2. New tongue wheel (150) ? Huh? Again, not a very good descriptor. (Perhaps he means a wheeled tongue jack?)
3. Lights work too? As if that isn't to be expected? Amazing!
4. $1500 takes it home with a title? What if you offer less? Does that mean you don't get the title then?
5. He admits that he's broke and needs the money. That means you should be able to take it (with the title) for $500.

These types of cracker jack ads scare me away from potential purchases. But in fairness, maybe he will be more articulate with his information delivery over the phone. Maybe not!

P.S.
Would be nice if he stated the length...and he does say 90 Evinrude...so it's an OB.

Re: Advice please!

Mako....Mako....Mako if I wasn't 6000 miles away in Portugal and my Truck in Vancouver I would go and snap it up myself just to resell in BC! If theres no rot and the motor runs its a no brainer! Take a buddy, share the driving and sleep in the car, take two days of sammies, drive at 55 and you will be there and back for $300! Go for it!

Re: Advice please!

If that Mako is there as of this Saturday, I will be there to buy it.

If that engine isn't complete junk, it has to be done. Of course, I am going to spend 1-2 days now on Mako forums or talking to Mako-heads.
