Well the parts I ordered did not come in due to a computer error. This is getting frustrating.

Well I think I have have everything that I need to fire this thing up. I just need to put it all together. The Chome valve covers had to go. They were too tall. I had to root through a guys take offs today at a marine for some stock models. Anyway i am back to rebuilding the carb.

Hey Frisco, I can't wait to see your progress on the engine...I'm starting to get to that "putting the parts together" stage too, nice feeling isn't!

It is a great feeling, but I just got that sinking feeling that I have so much to do. All my weekends are filling up and I NEED to get this thing through sea trials.

I'm getting close guys. I took half the day off today and got the manifolds on and the intake. I have to strip the pulleys down and give them a coat of paint, so I should be able to mount those tomorrow.

FYI. The harmonic balancer for the 350 is WAY bigger than the 305 HB. I just picked one up from NAPA this morning.

If all goes well I should be able to fire here on Sunday. I am going to see if my Dad will come over and give me a hand.

I have to say I am so happy that is over with. I spent all day yesterday and half of today getting ready for the first fire up. I was VERY nervous that things were not going to go right. We made a huge checklist and went over it three or four times before we started it, and everything went fine. The old gauge cluster did not work so we were flying blind, but I could see that there was oil coming up on the rockers and it was not getting hot so I keep it running.

Here is my only issue. Once I broke in the cam I tried to set the timing and could not even get the mark close. The timing marker one the timing cover is at about 2 o'clock, but the mark when the engine sounds the best is about 11 o'clock. If you try to get the mark to the other side the engine dies. I did some reading and found that some of the 350 engine had timing marks of the other side of the timing cover. So I wonder if that is my problem.

The throttle response is wicked fast!!!

Sounds great frisco! I think Max wants to asks your 350 out on a date! lol! You must have had it strapped down good to counter all that torque!

I had it bolted down to that pallet, and the hoist had a little of the load. So it was distributed evenly. Tell max he had better bring it!

I have to say that engine has a unique sound.
