Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

As long as the rest of the fuel system (lines, filters, etc.) is above the top of the tank, no anti-siphon is needed. I would not install one unless it is absolutely needed. Those little valves have left many a boat stranded.
Always carry a standard flow thru fitting, teflon tape, and a 12 adjustable wrench.I'd rather make a quick switch than to end up with a gas flooded bilge.

Not a happy camper....
Spent the last of my boat fund this week for 2 cans of self etching primer...

Had high hopes it was going to come out looking good...

I spent the last 3 nights sanding...by hand...the tank...

This paint sucks...not going to mention the brand name....

Would be nice if it fanned out more than 3/4" when holding the nozzle the recommended distance from the part...

Stripe city...and took both cans....when looking at their suggested coverage area thought I would end up with half a can...

can I go over this with my Oil base primer I used on the trailer?

Yep, now that the SE primer is on there you can coat it with what ever you want.

OK, I took a green scratch pad to it, looks a little better...

Seems the last bit I sprayed was just dark and collecting on top of the other layer...maybe I did it wrong?

Thanks Wood..I will put a coat of the other primer...and might as well paint it while I am at it...

Scan thru some tinny resto threads.... That's exactly what most hulls look like after SE primer;)

So, yep, shoot away.... Glad you like the results better after a bit of cutting the SE w a scotchbrite pad.....

The SE primer is supposed to be a LIGHT coating so you should do a light scuff with a 3m pad before shooting it with another primer and then top coat. It IS some weird stuff. I personally like the SEM product. They have a high quality nozzle on their rattle cans.

Here it is after the scratch pad...before I put the oil based primer on it..

Does look a lot better...I guess it was just different than what I had expected...

I went ahead and put a coat of oil base primer on it too...will consider painting it...it is just a tank though as the wife said...

Speaking of practice....

Noob HVLP Painting tips 101

1. If you see paint dripping out of the nozzle...it does not necessarily mean the paint is too thin...stop painting....go look where you put the gun together from the last cleaning...there could be spare parts just lying around...like maybe a spring....DOH!

I went ahead and finished, drips and all...only a tank, right?

Seems as though drips & runs is still a hanging offense in Louisiana..........

Just IMHO: Looks good from my house. It'll look great under a deck near you soon!

Don't feel bad about the spring Troop . The first time I changed the tip size I forgot to change the needle . Sat there wondering why it would not spray .
