Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

If you tools are burning you when you pick them up....

It might be too hot to work...

I got the inside edges sanded with a belt sander....that sucked in this heat, sweating like crazy... but I got it done...

Also got the holes for the screws pre-drilled :)

Cooling off a bit, then going to countersink the holes...

then see if I can get some 5200 down in the holes...put some PL under the outside edges...

Then screw that puppy down!!

I got some jigs made up to cap the holes I put in for foam. Will lay a sheet of plastic over the hole then put the blocks over holes when pouring the foam. Will have to wait a few day for the PL to cure...I may try to get some PB on it though...then I could do the foam today?

Finally!!!

Got the first section of Deck screwed to the stringers...Will add some PB once it cools off a little...118 out in the boat right now...

I found that the 5200 went into the pre-drilled holes ok. Just left the tip the way it is when you buy it.

One last update to close the weekend out...

DSC01181.jpg

Got the deck section PB'd in...and got the motor mounts covered in glass and PB'd in too!

I have figured out that these did not require to be screwed into place...They are only supporting the motor, I had thought earlier that they would take some of the force to propel the boat....but that is what the transom is for...
Sure hope these are right height and in the right location

Thanks SP..I always see the faults though...had a tough time with the PB on the motor mounts...Couldn't find a spreader...stole a second spoon from the kitchen...this one had a square side...and it was the side I needed to use most of the time :(

Not sure why that pic came out so out of focus either...maybe I'll take another tomorrow evening...if I can get some tabbing done...

Looks great Trooper. I think a bump out for your hoses will be fine....it's your doghouse to build so you can modify it ;)

I have been meaning to ask you about yours...what did you use on the inside? Looks like some sort of noise/insulation stuff....

Some advice for those using 2 part foam...

Make sure that your caps are CLEAN before putting them back on the containers.

I literally destroyed my Part A... it is spinning the entire assembly...had to do something to get to the Part A..so...

And I say this with utmost importance....

*****Do Not Try This At Home*******

I drilled a small hole in the top of the can so I can plug it and still get the contents out.

So I was able to pour foam in the Port side...Took 2 tries to get the right amount...

I think it turned out pretty good..

This is under the Starboard side...I am putting foam behind this gusset...

The reason for this pic?

I had put a lot of foam back there, wanted to see if it was leaking...
DSC01183.jpg

Here is the top side view...came out great...

What I did was let it expand close to the hole, then covered it up..one at a time...Recall from my experiemnt that if the pressure is equal...inside the foam and out...it does not expand anymore...

Got my 3/8NPT x 3/8" anti-siphon barb today... It doesn't fit the 1/4NPT thread in the pickup tube :(

Could have swore that thing was 3/8 NPT and not 1/4 NPT....Oh well...3 days behind schedule now due to that...

The ground connector on the sending unit. Can I tie that into the piece there with the screw hole? the thing with the part# on it? then take a wire from there out to bilge to get to ground..eventually?

...Check out Budd's (Chriscraft254) thread on his Chris Craft Sea Hawk... He redid the inside of his dog house with some really neat, insulation type material. Looked really good for heat and noise reduction. Can't recall off hand what it was, but it looked cool/effective.

Swing over there and check it out if you get the chance.

Got the foaming holes/vents filled...

DSC01186.jpg

Hope this is acceptable...Didn't want to use resin, I have plenty of 5200... I put a good coat inside the hole, outside the plug...levelled off the top best I could...I will sand these down smooth before applying the Deck top coat...

They look to be built strong enough to support the motor, but they also need to take the torque of the motor.
So tab & glass them well:) They do take a beating every time the capt' throttles her up w/ vigor!

Scotty will be reporting all abuse of the throttle to StarFleet command:D
