S'up CC?

Man oh Man that dock came out looking like a million bucks...Freeekin awesome work, bro...

Oh yeah, the CC is lookin good, too with them there new super LED's...

Hope everyone's good on your end...

later,gt.
Thanks Gus, glad to be moving on to the next dock, that one was HUGE! lol Everythings good here for now other than 105 degree heat in June. Holy crud its hot!!!

Consider me envious... my only boating at work is the cell phone photo I have.
Yeah but your work allows you to drive and operate a very nice vessel when your off! It does put a smile on my face driving the boat to work, lol I just grin ear to ear. Plus the river is gorgeous at 6am in the morning as the sun comes up.

That pier made your boat look small  Nice work, it looks great.

Your mom and dad looked like they were having a good time in that fold-a-boat!

Thanks and I was thinking the same thing!! Time for a bigger boat! M&d are easily entertained, lol They love it!

I wish I could drive to work every day in the boat, its just beautiful in the mornings. Been stiffling hot, take your breath away hot here so we have been starting at 6am and cutting out at 2pm. That allowed us to go fishing for a couple hours today. Were gonna head out in the morning to fish at 5 am and fish all morning. My helper had a blast today so I invited him back.

Didn't catch anything huge but here were a couple. The spotted bass will attact anything any size!! This lure was bigger than the fish, lol Unfortunately this little guy didn't make it. He died before I got the three hooks out of him. The hybrid was good to go.

The cooler is gonna be sweet once I have cushions made up for it. It will be 6 feet long from the bolster pads to the end of the cooler. Going to make it three pieces for easy storage and so I can still open the split lids on the cooler and also so I can remove the cooler but still have a pad on the engine cover.

We used it today as a table for tackle box etc, was awesome. :D

Re: 1990 Chris Craft 254 Seahawk ( Refurb and upgrades)

Just got an update from the dealer. They told me it just got out of detail yesterday and they refinished all the teak, repainted the bottom due to a scratch in the new bottom paint, gel coated the air pocket I pointed out above the rub rail, refinished the console, repainted the lower unit(only thing I saw was some color fade when I was looking at it) and platform and replaced the rod holders attached to the transom. The week before, they replaced the tilt motor on the outboard along with full tune up, fluid change, and water pump and seals and put new steering cables in since steering was a little stiff. Trailer is going in for mechanical work on Tuesday(they're closed Sunday and Monday and July 4th). It needs brake work and some wiring work to get the brakes functional again(PO disabled them and rewired it to 4 pin). They are going to repaint the trailer and make sure the power winch works. He said I should get a phone call late next week to schedule the sea trial and I'll get a warranty on the work performed(who knows what kind lol!)

I was hoping to get it on the water before July 4th but they promise me and promise me that its worth the wait(we'll see I guess). BTW, this is all extra work that was included in the price of the boat. I haven't asked for any of the work they're doing.

So far its been a good experience. They weren't pushy when I went to look at it and they've updated me with what stage of work the boat is in and what has been done every friday or saturday since I put my deposit down 3 weeks ago now.

Re: 1990 Chris Craft 254 Seahawk ( Refurb and upgrades)

Hey guys, hope everyones 4th was good. Been pretty busy around here dispite the 105 degree temps. been starting every morning on the water by 6 am and shutting down by 2pm. Works for me, been getting to see the sun rise every morning with nothing but like glass smooth water.

Fish are all over the place, the shad pods have started to get hammered. Will be doing soe night fishing tonight after the 107 degree temp cools off.

Anyway, here are some pics of the rivers edge project dock.

This is what I started with. Dock had been taken out by a couple ten thousand pound trees. I'm going to be giving it a fighting chance against this in the future. You can see the posts are still in place but not very straight. I will be adding about 16 new posts among other things.

Fast forward a few days. Cross members installed and joists. Outside band boards are double banded so no seems can be lifted. Its basically going to be like having one solid beam on the intire perimeter of the dock. We are also extending the dock another 8 feet out to allow for a 28 foot slip. Will also have triangles put in but that will be later, you will see what I mean later.

Then had to tackle digging out the entry and getting it tied into land. The dock is now very straight and the new framing for the slip is in place temperarily until we start driving posts. The posts will be driven monday and about 120 8 inch lag bolts will be installed from the bandboards and cross members to the posts.

Underside ,lol

First tool broken out for the day is usually a fishing rod, my helper Dave caught a small drum. We have been watching 3 and 4 foot spotted gar and long nose gar swimming around us most days.

Despite the heat wave we have had here, we have really enjoyed this project. Going to work on the boat everyday is priceless, will be sad when reality hits again. :p

Been really enjoying the sunrises and the ride.

This is the spot I will be heading to to do some night fishing. For those that don't have side scan, this is what it looks like. Its simply amazing I think. Once you get the hang of knowing what your looking at,lol :) Interesting bottom to say the least. This is what you will find when you have a hard turn in a river and the bottom is limestone/rock. Basically the constant water current cuts mountains out of the rock.

Mannnn...that sidescan is sweet!! Fishing in a big sand bowl like Lake Michigan, it wouldn't do me a lot of good, but I would like it for river fishing.

The dock you finished looks amazing, and the one you are now starting looks like it will handle anything the river can throw at it. Nice work, Budd!!!

Thanks man, the new dock will be really stout, better built than any in this area, look forward to seeing how it handles the debris/floods. Think it will stand up nicely. Will post more pics when we finish this week.

Man, if you fish any structure, the structure scan would be awesome. It basically scans up to 400 ft out each direction out the sides of the boat.

Living the dream!!
Well, sorta, the dream would be not to have to work at all and travel the world catching world record fish, lol :D

Re: 1990 Chris Craft 254 Seahawk ( Refurb and upgrades)

Pretty productive today. Got all the posts set on the dock project and caught a nice largemouth bass to boot! I love taking breaks and catching fish, had my helper hold it up but I landed him, haha :D I'm starting to get the hang of this fresh water stuff! ;)

Didn't get any pics of driving the posts, was to busy dragging 200 ft of air hose and 100 pounds of air hammer to take pics. Bolting everything up tomarrow and hopefully catching more fish! :)

riversedgeproject319.jpg

Caught this right where the river drops off behind the dock. Used a weedless worm and just jigged it up the slope and BANG, fish on!! Yahoooooo Respectful 2 1/2 pounds.

riversedgeproject314.jpg

Heading home after a long day! Back sore, shoulders sore, but I caught a fish, so life is good, lol

Hey CC,
Now you got me thinking...did you build an invisible water trailer to haul all those materials to the dock site...?

Just kidding, I imagine you have them all staged before hand at the site...

And, nice catch!

If you add the optional invisible water trailer to the mix, it's an iBoats, Superfecta:facepalm:

Oh carp, the LED's made it the super, so trailer must make it a Super-DuperFecta:D

Lmao, hahaha, you guys got it! Stupid,Super duper trifecta because the fuel I burn is paid by the job also, lol :) You mean you guys didn't see the submarine full of materials, lol The materials are delivered. You also would think it would be hard to frame on the water but you just float the lumber out and lift it into place and shoot it with the paslode. Not saying its easy, just easier than most would think.

Got all the support poles driven in atleast 8 feet and buttoned up the framing today. Tomarrow will be bolting and decking time, this one is getting 2X6 with stainless screws. This dock is so friggin stout I can't wait for the debris feild to hit it to see what happens, lol

The homeowners are happy so really thats all that counts.

Right before we left today.

On a side note, I am building some underwater rgb lights for the stern of the boat.
