I have had one and somewhat neglected it for the last couple of years but not on my own accord!!! After finding this post I am ready to start getting it together. I have my own thred started but I am moving in the next couple weeks and have to come back to pickit up after the wifes boat is repaired and I get a truck to make the 1000 mile trek. THis guy does awesome work and I can only hope to emulate it....

one question I have for you as far as the Boat itself goes since I am buying new tires and upgrading my trailer... Exactly how much do these things weigh? I have no idea how much mine weighs but have found a good deal on tires and rims to fit my trailer. What are you running for tires on yours.
Thanks

You all have the talent, the question is do you have the time :)

Thanks again, time for you to get busy. I have moved about 20 times in my life, I feel your pain.

Whats next, your lights looked great man.

Joe, the boat dry weight is 4200 pounds, back then, this was without motor on some models because of different model set-ups. Mine fully geared and fueled is usually between 7500 and 8500 pounds depending on how many people will be on board. Trailering you are best to take the boat to a weigh station or a recycle center or dump. any of them will weigh the rig for you. I still need to go back and weigh my rig without the boat so I know exactly what it weighs. She is a heavy beast compared to others of the same size, but that can be a good thing on the water.

Re: 1990 Chris Craft 254 Seahawk ( Refurb and upgrades)

Life has kinda gotten in the way lately and I have just been exhausted when I get home, thus, the lack of posts. But I'm keeping an eye on you guys, lol

We had a swap meet/ marina yard sale type thing this past weekend. Didn't know my m and d were going to come home with yet another boat, lol Anyone ever here of a porta boat. LOL

It is literally a fold up boat and is like 5 feet wide and pretty solid on the water When folded up it can be carried by one person and looks and is the size of a large surf board. Pretty cool I think.

Here is my mom and dad on its maiden voyage. This will free up deck space on there top deck and still have the option of having a dingy. Much easier to clean and hoist up as well.

Re: 1990 Chris Craft 254 Seahawk ( Refurb and upgrades)

I had a ton of stuff I took to the swap meet /sale and basically gave a bunch away and sold a couple things. Had a very nice set of skis and a slalom for sale cheap and no one touched them, weird. Anyway, i made out, for $20 bucks I bought to brand new stainless fender holders, a brand new inverter, and a brand new boat bag which has already made life easier. My dad also gave me a huge cooler that I will be cleaning up and using on the boat as another seat/storage. I have already mounted the fendr holder. probably will only mount one and sell the other.

I really have never liked the looks of the fender holders but it does get the fenders out of the way, especially nice when you have limited space on a boat.

Here is the fender holder mounted and some other pics I like taken recently.

What can I say, the new 300 lights per meter leds are simple AWESOME!!!! :D:D

I am having some issues with my broadband radar. basically it should look exactly matching whats on the chart plotter next to it. It is filling the screen and not showing me crap, so I called Lowrance. The girl was very very helpful and it is being covered under warranty. I have yet to ship it, but will by the end of the week. She said if they can fix it, they will but if not able to fix quikly they will send out a new unit. Also if not in stock, they may send me a upgraded version like 3g or 4g. Keeping my fingers crossed that the rest of service is as good as the phone call and a free upgrade would be nice!:)

Here is some low voltage led step lights I did on the big dock project. Looks great now that were done. Will post more pics later of the project.

mom and dad look happy there, looks like they were having a blast.....
nice score on the fender holders, but i do get what you are saying,,,,, heck mine have been empty ever since i started useing the big bumpers,,,lol,,,seems when i leave the dock i just flip them up on my rail and leave them all tied so my lazy self dont gotta retie all the time:facepalm: bahahaha....i guess mine dont block my lights .
the 300 lights per meter is cherry for sure and makes for a much smoother light

I can't see any of your photos on my phone, except the LED light one. Looks great!!

Not a clue what electronics are next. Never had any on the last boat, so the Lowrance is a nice thing to have!

Looks great.Mom and dad have them a nice dink.Porta boats have come along way since I last saw one.I like those fender mounts.Would there be any issues mounting them outside the rails?Would the fenders still be secure in the rough?TIA.

You have done an awesome job on this boat to say the least. Can you give us figures on how much it cost to complete? I'd also like to know what the performance specs incuding fuel burn on this boat assuming it has the PCM 350/351 motor in it. Thanks for any information you can help me with.

Ohh did I forget to mention I hate the looks of fenders being thrown over the rail on some lazy azzes boat, lmao Sorry couldn't resist :D

In all seriousness, mine are much easier to get to because of the walkaround, so they get put up there when leaving the dock. I use to put them in the fish wells, but they are much more useful filled with beverages or bait, lol I then started putting them right above the step up in the walkaround, but like you said, blocking the light is a no no! I figure I basically stole everything I bought at that swap meet. All marinas should do that once a year with a picnic/cookout included. It was a good time.

The guy I bought all the stuff from had a boat burn to the ground and basically had no use for the things anymore. Bad for him, good for me.

I can't see any of your photos on my phone, except the LED light one. Looks great!!

Thankyou sir, look into the whole network, you will be amazed at what you can add and all the lowrance stuff can do. And you can add to it as funds permit. I eventually will have my stereo, gauges etc all tied into the network.

Not sure I would trust the fender baskets outside the railing, but the basket would probably hold up. The issue would be if you took a huge wave, it might push the fenders out the top. But you could tie them in I guess pretty easily. Also might get in the way while docking.

The porta boat is pretty neat, will serve there purposes well. With them getting older it will be much easier to handle getting it up and off the boat. It weighs almost nothing and dad has a nice little eletric motor on it now. I am just waiting for the 13 foot whaler handy down, lol :p

Thankyou sir, I appreciate it. Welcome to the thread. ;) Costs are really going to depend on the condition obviously of the vessel when purchased but mine on a guestimate, I would say I have about 15K invested total. 5k for the boat and trailer originally. 3k in the rebuilt motor/labor, 4k in electronics, and atleast 3k in all the other stuff/misc I did to the boat. That being said, I will probably invest another 3 or 4k into her before I am done, still have the interior to finish etc. Plus all the stuff I did, I did! Lol, Can't contemplate how much it would be if I had someone else put in the time I have on her. Just the bottom restore would have been atleast 4k.

I basically have been working on it for about 3 years now and still have some to do, but thats why I bought this boat because it was a good platform to start with and couldn't afford a new comparable boat that would cost 80k to 140k depending on brand. I have looked at new boats that look better because there new, but I truly like the layout of this boat and how no frills it is. Easy to maintain and easy to boat on.

As far as some fuel numbers go, I have not had a chance to get fuel numbers since the new motor was installed really, but I can say, she is Thirsty, but heavy girls stay thirsty. Keep her at cruise and she does much better than at wot where I like to run,lol :) I will try and get my flow meter installed so I can get some real numbers again.

Something I failed to mention I think, My dad gave me a huge old cooler that couldn't have come at a better time. I am using my boat as my work truck for the next couple weeks, lol Yes, I am building another dock woohoo!

I took the cooler and put it on the boat and loaded it with all my tools that will be needed. Works great. eventually it will get all new hardware and a seat cushion that will extend all the way over the engine cover for laying out. It is exactly and I mean exactly the same height as the engine hatch/cover. Of coarse it will also be able to be moved to right behind the step down from the helm to act as another seat for guests. When sitting side to side in the boat, there is just enough space to walk around it and I can still get in the in-floor live wells, awesome

Anyway, this week its being used as a job box, lol. Will keep you posted on the dock project. No day pics of it yet,lol

The stairs coming all the way up was an extra but I'm glad they decided to go with it. I made it work. The concrete will be poured right to the same level as the first pad to the existing drive. :) This was before grade was done as well.

That pier made your boat look small  Nice work, it looks great.

Your mom and dad looked like they were having a good time in that fold-a-boat!
