Making some good progress!

Good thinking on extending the deck to the consoles.

Trimmed up the bow deck this a.m. (a little pre turkey work session). Fits the console nice and flush- I like it.

Man, she is certainly coming together!

Have you kinda set a target date to have her floating yet?

Just wondering eh.

I like pumpkin pie too. :D... and stuffed my pie hole with it yesterday.... Splash date... Hmmm... In the back of my mind I am shooting for March 1.. Could do some spring time fishing down in Louisiana, and then hit the early spawn for bass... But, I still have a few spendy items to acquire to make that happen (tilt and trim, gauges, electrical stuff, new water pump, etc...). . At least I don't have to buy a windshield though... :) I was able to get the boat all the way in the garage so with a mild winter and space heater I maybe able to make some progress... We'll see.

I did.. It was great.. Hope you and the rest of the iboats gang did as well.

Thanks TDF - appreciate the compliment. Hope you had a good turkey day as well.

Here is a little black friday update (thank goodness I'm not into shopping)...

First, I cut and insalled the underside pieces for the hatch supports... A nice slathering of PL Glue like clown make up, and some SS screws with 5200... Then, I fabbed up those little brackets for some extra support....

Then a little trimming and sanding... fit like a glove - I was pleased:

Then, tucked her in for the night with a little epoxy on the underside with a little heat lamp...

Hope everyone is having a great holiday weekend.

Great job pmc , your rounded corners on the openings are perfect . The deck to hull cut looks dead on !
Whats going on up at the front of the bow ? Will that just be decked in or maybe more storage ?

Re: 1988 Sea Nymph GLS - 17'

Good question. It's going to be decked in. Not quite enough room up there for another hatch. I'm waiting to do it though because the bow light, dock lights and trolling Motor install will be a lot easier without that piece blocking my access up there...

Re: 1988 Sea Nymph GLS - 17'

What did you use to get that deck so snug? same template system we used for stringer to hull? Also...how high is the transition from main deck to the bow deck?

I'm ready to put one in mine today...and want it to go as good as your's has...

I'm considering using a string and pencil as a compass, figure the sides of the bow are a true radius...we'll see I guess...

Re: 1988 Sea Nymph GLS - 17'

Its 16 inches vertical height... I wanted that front casting deck pretty high... I may build a little step up between the consoles or just park a small cooler in between the consoles...

On the shaping:

It was really easy for me, because the gunwale radius and the hull radius are just about exactly the same...and I had an open bow.

So, I measured my port to starboard length at three places (where my cross hatches were).

X____ X (e.g. 30 inches)

X_______X (e.g. 55 inches)

X__________ X (e.g. 67 inches)

(the above was supposed to look like christmas tree - not flush to the left; the formatting won't work).

Then I threw the board on top of the boat upside down and made sure it was perfectly square to front cross hatch and that my 3 "X" marks on the starboard side were resting right on the starboard gunwale edge... Then I just got a sharpie and traced the edge of the gunwale right through the 3 X marks. Shifted the board over a bit; got the board square again; made sure the port side "X" marks were all right on the edge of the port gunwale and traced again....

It took about 10 minutes... Way easier than I thought... Jas has some pictures of this method on his Sea Nymph thread as well. I stole the idea from him.
