10-4;)

In that case I'd say this is a good move...

laminate 2 3/4 sheets together with PL and then have it really bomber strong...

Beware though, you'll spend some serious dough on PL to lam the two foam pieces and lam the deck to the foam.

I think I remember you saying the thicker foam (like 1.5" or 2") was not available in your area, that right?

Yeah - I can't find it anywhere.... (largest I found was 3/4 in the blue)... Well, actually, they did have some 1.5 sheets, but it looked like white bubble styrofoam of yesteryear...

Little update from last weekend:

Got some deck boards down and sort of eyeballing the new gas tank that came in today... Its going to work out just right...

I think I've just about got the placement figured out...

Have a good evening.

Just trying to catch up on the forums. Looks like you have come a long way in the last few days.
The deck looks great. The tank looks much better than the last one. :D
Did you seal the underside of the deck.

Re: 1988 Sea Nymph GLS - 17 Foot

Thanks fellas. Yes, Decker, I sealed the underside with epoxy resin. You can see a little bit on the topside/edges (the darker spots), which is a bit of spillover from where I did the edges.

Also, the extreme aft piece is 1/2 thick, because it is going to be hidden under my rear casting deck. Basically, just wanted a flat place to store some batteries, etc... The rest of the deck coming forward is 3/4. I am actually going to smooth out the joint/transition with some Fiberglass cloth and epoxy so the water will run downhill a bit under that casting deck and back to the bilge...

You can make PB w/ epoxy too and ramp the 1/2 to 3/4 joint some 1st. In epoxy, over & under epoxy, saw dust or wood flour would work as filler, else, I don't know if it's micro balloons or cabosil etc

Deck is down: Feels pretty solid, and I don't hear any squeaking... I have some 6 oz. cloth left over from the glasser project that I may put down on the main deck surface for extra strength, water proofing, hiding the seams a bit, and a nice textured finish... (may require a lot of resin, but that's the plan right now). Expoxy resin and cloth are compatible, right?

I think I got the front layout figured out in terms of gas tank, livewell/fishbox, etc... Hope to start on bow deck soon....

PMC,
First off let me say I've enjoyed both this thread and Man Vs. Boat lots of good stuff all around. I was wondering though if you could post a few more pics of your motor stand. I have a believe the same motor and will be needing to build a stand for it soon.

Thanks,
Kenneth

Thanks JB,
I had one of those links saved on my old phone but lost my bookmarks when I upgraded. I was wondering though what if anything PMC or anyone else for that matter did to beef up the stand for the bigger motor. Don't know if it's needed but as PMC mentioned his first stand was an epic fail.....????

Re: 1988 Sea Nymph GLS - 17'

thanks fellas, it feels good to actually be able to walk around in a boat I own... Never experienced such an unusual phenomenon before...

While you guys know that I am not camera shy, I will spare you the disco moves... It would be more than you could handle anyway:

So, not much happened this weekend (had daddy duty with 4 kids all weekend because the wifey needed to tend to some family biz in baton rouge)... The one time I tried to sneak out and work on the boat, my 2 year old decided to take one of my boat sharpies and color all over the walls, the floor and herself.... Not good (at least acetone works on painted sheetrock and brick).

There was one very positive boat-related development this weekend... A fellow iboater hooked me up with a perfect windshield for this rig (I am not going to mention any names, but I can definitely hear some noises coming from this box... Its either a puma, or the faint screams of a starcrafter glasser :) VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!

Kenneth, on the o/b stand - the best thing I can tell you is to make it beefy; mimic your transom angle, use long screws and joining plates, and don't get in a hurry. I tried to convert from my old fiberglass stand which was a straight vertical and not very beefy, and this is it after the board broke loose and then it fell over:

Then, I did my homework and came up with something like this:

Have a good one fellas.
