a little progress this past week.

last weekend, all i got done was polishing the glass

this past week identified the rubber extrusions from Taylor Made. about $215 worth of rubber, $25 worth of handling fee and $50 worth of shipping. that can wait until I get the gel done

a bit of aluminum work for the new seat boxes. was going to go wood/fiberglass. decided to make them out of aluminum

this weekend was a bit of fairing and spider crack fixing

bit of update..... took today off to watch the pups as the Admiral is in Bristol RI with her girlfriends

will be fairing the hull a bit today

picked up a 3-step garlick ladder that matches the brackets on the 2-step that I have

boat ladder was always a bit of a PITA to get up, and needed a 3-rung from day one

Here was my Weekend.....The admiral flew out Thursday with some of her girlfriends to Bristol RI. Her best friend has a 2nd house on the water there.

so Work from Home Thursday
off of work on Friday.... check out a wake board tower and bow rails and pop-up fender cleats at Marine Surplus.... sand...fair...sand...sweat
Saturday....fair sand sweat
Sunday...repeat until 1pm, then wash truck, shower and pick up the Admiral and her friends.....

boat had a divot in the hull on both sides where the bulkhead separating two foam chambers is. while not visible unless you looked. I faired most of it out and took care of a bunch of stress cracks I found under the bottom paint.

dash is one pass of fairing putty away from being finished. a bit of glass work on the gunwals where Cruisers cut them for speakers in the upholstery . moving the speakers to other locations

did not get back to the dash yet. however did get the new seat boxes made, and painted. filled the hole where the fuel vent was. it was really low on the hull side. have a new attwood flush vent with the built-in p-loop. going to relocate it next to the filler.

pulled the foredeck hatch so I could take care of the stress cracks in the corners up there. while at it, ground all the micro-cracks from the edge of the bow.

also smoked turkey......and ran over my ladder that folds into scafolding

not much for pics so far this weekend. went thru about a gallon of fairing compound on the inner gunwales. did a bit more pin-hole filling on the foredeck and glassed in some reinforcing for the eventual radar arch. did go thru a bunch of 80 grit PSA discs.

hope to get the last bit of fairing on the interior done today, however the admiral may have other plans.

the admiral's words were.... " I dont want carpet there, cant you paint it and make it shiny like everything else"...... I explain that carpet is 30 minutes worth of work, and its done for another 30 years.... painting would be about 20 hours of work to make it look good.

the response was "I don't want carpet" - see post #44

so first, build up the surface with foam, then 2 layers of CSM - see post #61 the 2 layers of CSM still allowed me to dent the foam, so I picked up some 1708 a few weeks back.

so Friday I managed a layer of 1708, then a skim-coat of fairing. I think my average thickness is about 1/32" (you can see the 1708 thru most of it when I sand. however there are some areas where the new surface meets up with some of the hull shape that are a bit thicker (about 1/4").

So the admiral says yesterday..... "I didnt know it would be that much work"...

Its been almost a month since I posted.

December 1st was the last day I worked on it, then 2 weeks dealing with Dad's death.

Its now almost Christmas. My upholstery guy called, he needs to get my stuff delivered. he is going thru a similar thing with his dad in hospice.

May not get much more done this year, as my planned sabbatical from work will be spent catching up for the unplanned that happened.

que sera sera
