score of the day. current helm and cable were a bit stiff most likely old grease as a liberal amount of brake cleaner helped loosen it up.

old Teleflex SSC12416 rack and cable

was dreaming of ways to warm the cable, and try to flush the old grease, etc.

thought, not really feasible

new is about $150

did a google search, found a place on internet in New Zealand that had two in stock for $26 with free world wide shipping.

big disclaimers, only fits the old style late 80's helms.....blah blah blah

Score - used paypal for level of protection

I cant afford not to replace the cable.

its the goobers from when I re-did the bilge back in 2012 as well as some factory goobers... they annoyed me, especially when I put a single gelled/resined glass strand in my hand reaching under the motor once.

i even thought on fairing the bilge....I may still do that too.

I like the top, and lighter color should show less spots. The old thing of a Black car looks great for 5 minutes after its waxed

I agree AD, however if mama isnt happy..... no one is happy

I was perfectly fine keeping the boat red since the upholstery has red in it.

However she does want the darker blue.

a bit of update......

transferred the graphics to white poster board to help me lay out the fine-line tape that arrived from Amazon. the poster board is cut to shape the hull to cap seam so I can tape in place, and transfer to the hull easy. this will ensure that I lay out both sides the same

have the circuit breakers in for the dash and the glow-in-dark paint. The dash is lasered out, however not formed yet.

also picked up a gallon of gel coat and a gallon of duratec gloss additive.

tomorrow morning, will be helping a friend with his Cobra project, then using the A-frame hoists at his shop to pull my boat off the trailer so I can finish sanding the bottom. the hope is to be able to spray the bottom and be back on the trailer on Sunday.

Looking forward to seeing the new graphics on your boat. Also that Cobra looks sweet. I would love to see how it turns out too.
