its been almost 5 weeks since I have been able to work on the boat. its been raining like crazy every day. finally was able to get the bulkhead between the cockpit and berth replaced and the gunwale sides filled in between rain showers on Sunday.

yard has 8" deep ruts from me pulling the boat out

pics of the rotten original bulkhead - 3/4 marine ply with a laminate.
the new bulkhead secured with screws, hairy PB, and tabbed in place.
the foam core that I adheared with great foam window and door (low expansion, works great as a glue) and the final gunwale storage pocket.
also did a bit of cleanup where the rub-rail goes with a wire cup brush in the grinder

No pics of last weekends work yet. however it involved finding all the screw holes with a carbide and opening them up for some fuzzy PB.

this week I worked on a template for some laser cut vent bezels

started sanding the port side bottom paint yesterday after running all the errands. looked like a coal miner.

Here is some progress from the weekend. spent most of Saturday working on admiral projects. finally got a chance to work on the boat. got sunburnt sanding.

will pull the trim tabs and other hardware this week. have a 10 x 20 canopy to put up over the boat to prevent the rain. the admiral is on a girls cruise next weekend with her college roommates. so next weekend the boat gets finished sanding. maybe I get the deck and bilge sprayed with gel.

wish I had a bigger compressor. most of the day was spent waiting for air pressure to return.

sure miss my 5hp/80 gallon compressor. no place to store it.

did the Harbor freight electric, it died within the first hour. after the 3rd one, I got my money back.

keep saying I should buy a dewalt or porter cable, however the wait for the compressor is beer time.... :)

it just stopped raining, so I am going back out at it.

need to make some stands for the rest of the bottom, or drag the boat to work and lift with the over-heads and sand.

Just use wet/dry sand paper :D and no need to stop. The rain will cool ya off. Just keep the beer covered

pulled the windshield assembly on Saturday. it needs re-glazing and while I am at it, it will be painted white vs the current silver. same goes for the rub rails.

I have a few stress cracks where the windshield meets the hull. the gel is about .060 thick there, so I plan on grinding down to glass, then a layer of CSM and a layer of 1708, then fair as needed. this will build up the area by about .060 over where I am now, however it will be much stronger and should not crack again.

same goes for the top of the dash area. the dark grey gel has cracked due to UV damage. that area is getting 2 layers of CSM and will be faired.

No, will keep the dash and the foredeck stripe in dark grey. Just grinding the gel down to glass, then build back up

here are some more pics..... all the aluminum trim for the windshield and rub rail are now ready for paint.

adjusting some of the windshield frame so when it goes back together, it sits flush. the fit of some of the pieces left a little to be desired.

grinding gel coat to get rid of stress cracks.

a few pics of the parts in the spray booth. should have spent a bit more time with spot putty in the areas that had corrosion, however they are white. pic of the boat under its canopy as the cockpit cover no longer has anything to attach to. also a pic from work on a gangway being finished......LOL
