So I wrapped the 1st layer of 8.9oz cloth over the top and down to the cove on each side....and wetted it out.

Then I wrapped another layer over all of it, and extended past the cove, forming a skin over all of it....I think im good there..

The final stringer schedule is 2 laminates of 17oz cloth, with at least a 4" overlay...then 2 layers of 8.9oz over it all..then a few coats of resin to seal it all up.

That's it for today, letting it all cure..off to HD for some wood for the other paint booth door.

Its like instant summer today...

Nice progress on the beach house...new codes requiring they be built on stilts?
Even better to see the Sun poking its brightness up your way...
And the naked lady in the sun is finally able to get some much needed attention!:)
Most excellent to be able to add some lams...

Glad to see some progress on both the LBI house and the boat. Even though the weather has been great no boat work going on here, just the honey do list.

They have us under the misguidance of the morons at FEMA, who changed the rules 3 times since I started. It was originally drawn with just a concrete block garage level, which would have saved me a lot of framing, then they bumped me to pilings only, then back to the CB option...I don't trust them anymore so I went with the highest standard, so im sure to be compliant.....I just wanted to break ground before they find some rare turtle or something, and leave me with a mortgage on a sandbox...

I need that "No Acronyms Allowed" sign lol

Yes, the sun is most excellent guys :)

"Hi were from the government....were here to help".... I got more than enough of that after May 20th, idiots! I had to survey my barn to make sure it wouldn't flood....its only 25' above the top of the creek.....if it floods I will start building an ark, lol!

Very nice work as usual, glad to hear you are getting some warm weather up there today!

Awww, come on, don't be so hard on the Fatally Enigmatic Morons Association...they only have Uncle Sam's best interest at heart...
Haven't you heard of the really nice fenced in resort getaways they have prepared for us in the event of some major cataclysm...

.I just wanted to break ground before they find some rare turtle or something, and leave me with a mortgage on a sandbox...:)
Now, now don't go picking on the tree huggers and the BLM...they are just keeping us safe from ourselves by not letting us become oil and wealth independent...

Non-Update:

No progress on the Imperial this week, need to get more supplies but I have to reroute the funds right now, im coming into crunch time on the house.

I did pass the piling inspection tho...which was crucial.....Tomorrow they will set the crane, and truck in the 4 modules...have to keep them in a lodge hall lot on the mainland, the powers that be wont let you store them on the island. Tuesday morning we will set them. Ill grab some pics of them high in the air..or maybe a vid.

Peace out guys...see u soon ;)

If they give you any trouble, tell them to call your architect...I'll send you my number! I am good at dealing with the paper pushers, you just have to run over them, otherwise nothing ever gets done!

Well, I got my pins set on the map, June is cool if you want to hold a nail gun, late summer is better for the cocktail type crowd :)

Tried to beat the weather Tuesday morning, but struggled to just get the boxes set...then the wind gusted up over 40mph, so we had to shut down half way thru.left the upper modules plasticized...and hunkered down for the storm.. :( Couldn't raise the roof, it would have blown off...

Gonna give it another try Friday or Sat. I cant win for losing with the weather lol

I got some pics and a vid of the boxes swinging around, will post when I get a chance.

I gotta make all this right, so ill be back soon I hope..

At least shes set.

So far so good, the inspector showed up without plans, asked to look at mine if I had them, gave it all a glance, and handed over the sticker..lol...realizing there wasn't a second guess, I added some safety cribbing on a big span, and forged ahead! Im a licensed builder, but its always the arch or engineer that moves the chess pieces ;)

Looking good! We checked into using a modular system for a friend of mine a couple years back. He was developing some lots at the lake, but ultimately ended up just selling the lots without houses on them. I have to say they can build some pretty cool stuff. You don't see that to much around here, almost everything is stick built.

Just checking in....I thought I was a busy guy!? You've got your hands full, that's for sure!

Well done on the over-engineering/building part...there's a certain peace of mind that comes with building/constructing things ourselves...you know every inch and you know it's done better than to the minimum standard!

Cheers!

Nice pre-built house :thumb:

I used to do the I.T. work for a regional lumber company. . . they had an automated factory that did a lot of prefabricated stuff. Sure saves time on the job site. Basically goes from the computer (CAD) system to the factory machinery that does the cutting, nailing, etc.

Looks like a nice place Zool. I'd be honored to swing a hammer or a nail gun around that joint. And having done so for years, I am confident I would make it NO WORSE then when I began. :watermelon: But an unfinished (meaning NO A/C up & running) house on the Jersey shore in June......

Hmmm.... Perhaps not.....

Well maybe if I can stand at an open window & gaze at the comings/goings at the beach :)

Yep, minimum standards, gotta love it...

I found it difficult to believe how many guys in Las Vegas would get ticked at an inspector when they didn't pass an inspection. I always thought:
Come on fellas, our company is paying you to make sure the subs build it to the prints, that it meets code, and PASSES inspections.

It's the minimum standard, and you guys can't meet them? Jeez, I don't think the inspector or his inspection is the real problem here

At my last job site, the inspector put a hairy eyeball on every nail plate, on both sides of every truss, in every house. And took sheer wall & drywall nailing equally as serious. Lets just agree to call him thorough. Extremely thorough

BTW: Zool, where ya gonna park the boat shed?

Most inspectors are usually just trying to do there job and make sure we build a safe building . But there are some out there that let the power go to their heads and make things really difficult to get anything done . I usually try and go the extra mile right off the bat to get them used to the work you do . Then sometimes they will throw ya a bone or two from time to time to help make schedules . Don't argue with them because that will usually get you no where .
Looks like your gunna have a real nice place zool !
