Every inch of tabbing done is one less...;)
Nice progress on the teak...it is amazing how well that wood comes back to beautiful with some serious elbow lube...
In case you can't find walnut shells locally, or buried somewhere, the mail order gunsmith shops have it available...{ Brownell's or Midway}

Seriously envious. Mine is a cocoon until spring. 66 is near perfect temps to work in. How low does it go overnight in there?

Yea GT, a few pieces at a time is all I can do right now, I start before noon, then have to leave about 4 hrs or so of warmth, to cure before sundown...plus, The admiral paid a rare visit out back to inform me the boiler wont start, and its warmer out there than in the house....she didnt look "happy"...spent the afternoon cleaning it out and changing nozzles til it worked again....but now its runnung and all is well ;)

Harbor freight has the media, I just didnt buy it when I was there :(

That tumbler looks just like the one my boss bought.. We manufacture scope mounts for a few kinds of rifles, and they all go through the tumbler to 'soften' the machined finish(s) before anodizing. (not sure what the media is, its not shells though...) It works really good, and we've been using it for about a year now, you should be happy with it..

Most of what im gonna run thru it is stainless screws and clips and such.the bigger stuff ill hit with the blaster....Im gonna try differnt media, like glass beads, shells, aquarium gravel and such....its mostly salt buildup and not really too much rust.....

What kind of compressor are you running with that blast cabinet zool? I would like to pick one up about that size. I'm running a single stage Ingersoll Rand 5 hp, 60 gallon. She is a beast for a single stage, run 18 CFM at 90 PSI.....one of the best tools I ever bought. I have been wondering how she would handle a blast cabinet.

I have a gas powered unit I used for that...gives like 15+ @90....I just plumbed this building with 3/4 copper and 2 compressor feeds...I might put two 60's in here, to get over 20.

It will run with over 10.....but you gotta go slower sometimes......

Well its a frozen tundra now, with more coming tomorrow....

But its workable inside, too bad I have to go to work today...could have got a session in, maybe tomorrow, but if no sun then maybe not.

Outside temp = 34 deg F
Inside Temp = 67 deg F
RH = 98+-
No heat added

Earning a living can be a real inconvienence...

On a less humid day, if started early enough, you could prolly get a coat on and have it set before the temps drop....so far the epoxy cures just fine if I stop early enough in the day.....no go today tho, its snowing and in the 30's in there without the sun...so Im working on the swim platform inside the shop...

Update:

Well, today is just snow, snow, and more snow......Its cold and theres no sun to heat the bubble, so ill do some more on the teak and hardware.

I dug around and found a bunch of glass blast media, so I loaded up the tumbler and put some hardware in and tried it out....I let it run till i came back in, Im not too keen on leaving a harbor freight electric device unattended.

I sanded down some of the grime on the bigger pieces of the platform with 100 grit on an orbital.

I then used a spray bottle with some warm water to wet the boards, then pre cleaned them with some Amazon teak cleaner I had around for who knows how long, its acid free and worked good to clean out the grooves of grime and sanding debris.

I had to rinse it off with the spray bottle, cuz my frost free valve is frozen...:confused::mad:

I cleaned up a bunch of boards and am letting them dry, which will take a while in this cold....next ill get the remaining black from the grooves with the oxalic acid.....ill need a hose to rinse that off, so I have to wait a few days till the temps go back up.

The 1st board I did is drying nice and blond.

The braces were really stained so I sanded them and started cleaning them up a bit.

The acid should clean them up the rest of the way, then before assembly, im gonna fill the grip holes for the screws with some epoxy so they get a fresh bite....ill use syringes.
