Made some good progress yesterday.

Got most of the work done to repair the gouge on the keel. May need one more round of gelcoat today. Here's the before picture.

Cut down the seat bases to get the seats lower so we catch fewer bugs in our teeth.

We installed the drive.

And we ran it on muffs:

Other than a final sanding, the keel is repaired. We did not try to color match the gelcoat because I am just going to put a keel guard on before next season. I'm still hopeful for a splash tomorrow afternoon. Here's some progress shots of the keel repair:

Officially splashed! Whew, it was a busy few days to get everything ready, but we made it. Today it was mid-50's air temp and we launched on the Tennessee River and rode around for about 90 minutes, letting various people drive and ride. We got it up to about 50 mph at around 4,000 rpm - the water was smooth and the boat handled great. Good oil pressure, temps stayed right around 140F, and a consistent idle around 650 rpm. The trim up button was giving me issues (had to use trailer button), and we did not get the trim gauge dialed in where I want yet, but I'll get all that sorted, along with the rest of the items required to have the boat fully ready by spring.

Huge thanks to all on these forums that have helped answer questions, share knowledge, and encourage during the rough spots. I was a complete newb and had never owned a boat 16 months ago.

Here are some pics, and I'm working on compiling videos over the next few days.

Too bad the Admiral took ownership, Tod. She might let you keep her clean and gassed up!

You have been nominated in the SOTY thread. Good luck.

Thanks sir! I'd be honored for her to let me do as much. 😅

...and I humbly accept the nomination. Thanks again.

Looks great, Tod.

Time for the long winter nap or you still have some time left for more boating?

Thanks! Long winter nap unfortunately. It was 55F on the water yesterday, dropped to 28F last night. After the river I got it home, winterized, and threw the tarp on it.

Fantastic job on this. I've really enjoyed following your story because you started (more or less) where I did; new to boats. Now you are an expert because you did your research and weighed all of the forum advice you were given. You are not a newb any more. No sir!
Not only that, but your drive to do it the right way the first time, and your high finish quality. It is one sleek machine. You've truly earned your ride.
Hopefully you can get through the rest of it and get it detailed out by spring.
Congratulations on a successful splash, too! Good video.

Thanks Mark! I appreciate talking me off the ledge several times during the build! You were a welcomed voice of rationality.
