I thought I would never say this but these pics kind of make me want to paint my boat...again! You are doing an incredible job. The instant gratification of seeing paint and primer go on is the best.

Hey bunker - Maybe you want to sleep on that. Unless you want to change colors.

Looking good DII. What color ya doing? I could wait a day or two to see.

Hey Otte, ya it was a little wobbly at the end.

Here are a couple pics with the Self etching on.

If you mentioned which etching primer you are using sorry. I am interested in learning about the type you used. Did you spray or roll the etch and primer?

Morning Otte. We are pretty limited to the type we can get up here in the north, I have a good freind whoe is a pro painter and his supplier found me a gallon of Cloverdale "Cloveabond". I sprayed it not easy, it is very thin and by the time you can see a film it is almost running. The good thing is, it is thin enough even the runs can't be felt.

No paint going on her today work is getting in the way.:(

Dozer, that's how the stuff is supposed to go on....you should only see a very light film that tints the surface for best adhesion.

Hey Barato, the product is almost transparent, makes it real tough to put on, but all is good. The gallon I got should be enough for four or five rigs, might have to go shopping again hmmmm, ;)

I love the size of your work area:D
Thanks Starcraft, it is nice to have the shop, I waited a long time before the time and money was there to do it.

Barato, you must have not noticed, but right now there are three SS's in the shop and there is another one waiting in Alberta for me, I think I'm way beyond MBS.lol

WoW
All I can say is you Starcraft guys really know what you are doing!!!
I just bought a 1990 16' sylvan super sportster last year with a 85 hp yamaha just like yours I need to put in a new transom and there is not alot of info on Sylvan.
My boat seems to be a copy of the Starcraft SS and the info here has been great!!

Re: 1987 16 ss

Sylvans and Starcrafts share some DNA....there's a reason for the similarity. better boat historians than i could tell you more....i think Sylvan was started by the family that started SC after they sold SC. the boats are definitely close enough that the transom replacement on a SC will be a great how-to guide for you. can't speak for everyone but as far as i'm concerned, wouldn't mind seeing pics of your progress. and i think i can speak for the helpful if tin obsessed horde here when i say that we'll be happy to help you with Qs.
