Re: 1983 Deck Boat Transom/deck/stringer replacement Help

Had another great day today. It was 81 and breezy again.
Did some more fiber glassing on the splash well and storage boxes. They are ready to go back in.
I will need to get some plywood and some 2x2 lumber before I can do much more. Have to wait to next week end to go.
In the mean time I will just sit around and itch some more. LOL

Thanks PM for the info. The pics came thru.

Have a question about the drain tubes for the transom and splashwell.

Do I use the brass, alumium or the plastic ones.

Any suggestion.

Thanks
Kent

Thanks rrumba and WOG.

WOG Thanks for the drawing. I saw that in another thread where you had posted and saved it. I was planning on using it.

Next questing is What do you use to cut the tube with to make it the right lenght. Tubeing cutter or hacksaw?

I would use a precision guided, CAD driven, NASA approved, ultra-high powered, extremely high frequency laser cutting apparatus...if I could afford such a thing:p:rolleyes::D

yes, its time for bed now...:)

tubing cutter is the best, but as you can see the tube isn't really "heavy duty" so don't try to cut to quick, a few turns, tighten the knob, few turns, tighten the knob.....

The key to getting a good flare job is getting the end cut square...that's tuff to do with anything but a tubing cutter.

HINT: I've also inserted a wooden dowel rod in the tube (fits good and snugg) and cut them with my radial arm saw too (carbide tipped blade)

Thanks Cadwelder for the tip.
I do have a radial arm saw in the shed.

Wood,
My laser thingy batteries ran out so I don't know if I can use it. :(

The wife is telling me we have to go chrismas shopping now. augh! No time for the boat.
But I better keep her happy or there may be no boat at all!!!
