Re: 1983 Deck Boat Transom/deck/stringer replacement Help
Thanks Guy's
The resin rig has really saved my old back.
Did some more glassing tonight. Tabed in the transom with 2 layer of 1708. First layer was 6" and second layer was 10" wide. Then put 2 layers to cover the whole transom.
Used a 6" roller to apply the resin. Seamed like it took a long time for the resin to penetrate thru the glass. I had to use alot of force on the roller to get it to turn clear. Where the tabing was cut in the corners to lay over each other took even longer and a lot of presure. I did get all of the air out and it looks really good.
I keep the resin in a shed and it has been in the 100+ degrees here for the last 2 weeks. I was wondering if the resin could have gotten hot and thicken up on me causing it to not penetrate well. Or is this how it works witlh 1708. It also seamed to work better in the flat than vertical. Any suggestion?
Bought some shears from HF and they work well. Cut thru 4 layers of 1708 at one time easily.
Couple of pic's and 1 of my helpers.
