Re: 1983 Deck Boat Transom/deck/stringer replacement Help

Sorry for your loss. 18yrs was a really good run, but it doesn't make it easy.

I'm sure Majic welcomed him to the party, Dog bones: morning, noon & night!

Lend Me a Pup
I will lend to you for a while,
a pup, God said,
For you to love him while he lives
and mourn for him when he's dead.
Maybe for twelve or fourteen years,
or maybe two or three
But will you, 'till I call him back,
take care of him for me.
He'll bring his charms to gladden you
and (should his stay be brief)
you'll always have his memories
as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay,
since all from earth return
But there are lessons taught below
I want this pup to learn.
I've looked the whole world over
in search of teachers true
And from the folk that crowd's life's land
I have chosen you.
Now will you give him all your love
Nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come to take my Pup back again.
I fancied that I heard them say
"Dear Lord Thy Will be Done,"
For all the joys this Pup will bring,
the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness
we'll love him while we may
And for the happiness we've known, we?ll forever grateful stay!
But should you call him back
much sooner than we've planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes,
and try to understand.
If, by our love, we've managed,
your wishes to achieve!
In memory of him we loved,
to help us while we grieve,
When our faithful bundle departs this world of strife,
May we have yet another Pup? We?ll love him too, all his life.

Decker,

We've all been there! It's always a BAD day! Just know that your iBoats Family is here for you and thinking of you and yours. There's NO replacing a Friend like that but a substitute may be in the future that may ease the pain. Take care and cherish the many memories that I'm sure you have.

Awwww darn it! I am truly sorry for the the loss of your pup...it is one of the things in life that brings me to tears, immediately!
As I wipe the ones that fall on my keyboard, I am reminded of all of the very special ones that I had the good fortune to be blessed with through out my life.
After the loss of my 4-1/2 year old Lab, almost eight years ago to lymphatic cancer, my heart has been too badly broken to allow another of God's beautiful companions into my life...
Maybe someday I will have the fortitude to permit myself the glory of being a caretaker of another of man's best friend, but until that time comes, the fond memories of my passed pooches will keep me going.
I can only offer condolences on what is a very deep loss to you and your family and hope that the pain you feel is short lived and the wonderful memories you shared with your dog are soon brought to the forefront of your thoughts and a smile gathers on your heart as you recall the great times he provided you throughout his life.
Warmest regards, your friend,
Gus

I am so sorry for your lost. The wife and I had to do the same thing not the long ago ourselves for two Siberian Huskies. We both cried like babies for a while and part of our daily lives has changed too. Amazing how dogs fit into your lives and are such a joy to live with. Ours were house dogs and would snuggle up to us when watching TV... Time will help but not replace them...

EDIT:

First let me offer my condolences on the loss of your mom. I was really saddened to hear of your families loss.

ORIGINAL REPLY:

All I can say Decker is WOW on your restore. I started following your rebuild a few weeks back and have spent the last 2 evenings starting from the first and just finished with the first 2/3rds of it. Should be completely caught up tomorrow evening. Some really GOOD work there like all of the others have already stated. Hope mine turns out half as good.

UPDATE:
Finally finished the entire thread from one end to the other. Very impressed with your work. Hope to see more!

Re: 1983 Deck Boat Transom/deck/stringer replacement Help

First I would like to apologize for taking so long in getting back to the forums and thanking each and everyone of you for the kind words..

JBcurt, thank you for the poem. The Admiral liked it very well..

SP the dogs name was Dusty..

gm280 and Mud Puppy.. Welcome aboard and thanks for your kind words..

Not trying to leave anyone out here, and again Thank all of you Gentleman for your condolences..

Had a few days to work on the boat.. Cut out the 2x2's going across the fuel cell box.. Put the fuel cell in place to check the fit.. It looked good.. Now I need to put the neoprene strips on the bottom and sides with the 3m 5200 and lock it down.. Did some touch up fiber glassing that needed to be done..

Cut the deck and placed a few screws to hold it down so I can start laying out for the live well and console and the seat placement.
Need to figure out the placement for the batteries, 2 in front of the console and 1 in back for the motor..
Seems like the more I do the more planning I have to do..

Here or a couple of pics..

So glad to see you back at it Decker!

I got to tell you I spent 3 or 4 nights reading every post to this thread, and I like others are just simply amazed at all the detail and hard work you have put into this restoration. Your glass work and finishing skills are fabulous!

I can only hope mine turns out half as nice as yours!

Again, glad to see some more progress on it!

Wood, with the way Decker has put this back together, sure hope it doesn't take the engine out of that 'Stang to push it. One thing for sure, Decker will be using it for a long, long time!

This may be what you have to use in it Decker.
