Re: 1983 Deck Boat Transom/deck/stringer replacement Help

Did a little more today.
I thought I would do more but I guess I let my alligator mouth over load my humming bird ****.
Finished putting in the rest of the bulk heads and made some splice plates to glue and staple on the middle joints.

I mixed up some PB and fillet them all in. Still have alittle more to do with the PB around the splice plates and on the inside corner of the 2x2 rails and the plywood meet.
Hope to have this all done by the end of the week.

LOL. No there 1/4" ply. That's what the factory used. Not really much weight. I have a total of 3 sheets so far.

Yep I was thinking 3/8 or 1/4" would less weight on 16" centers.

Hey Decker ... do you have some kind of fillet machine over there? Those are so uniform and perfect you did a great job on them.

Thanks ezmobee.
I know without pics it didn't happen but I used 8 yards of csm 1.5 and 4 yards of 1708 and about 3 gallons of resion.
Took the better part of Sunday to glass it all in and a good part of Saturday to cut all the glass and do the ruogh and scuff.
It was a workout.

Thanks sphelps and Trooper82.
I finally got some pics of last weekends work. I also did alittle wood craving for the bow of the boat this week.

Very nice work Decker, like the straight lines on the tabbing.

Used 1/2 ply to make 3 layers for the bow. Will put on the glass this weekend.
Also put in a block of douglas fir for the bow eye. Used the PB to set it and have at least 4 layers of 1708 on the hull and 4 more layers over the block.
This is a way over done way to do it, but I feel safe that the hull will hold the eye.

When I put the 2nd layer of ply I made it longer than the straight part of the bow. So I had to cut a curve on the ends about 4" in on both ends. That made it set back a little. I have it out of the boat now and used a belt sander to even it out. I will use PB to fill in
any small gaps.
