Re: 1983 Deck Boat Transom/deck/stringer replacement Help

I put the fuel cell box on top of the 2 center stringers using PB as glue. I then put a layer of 1.5 csm and 2 layers of 1708 over the side of the stringer and over the top of the box. As you can see in the pic.

I did get 3 of the bulk heads in on one side of the fuel cell box. I used the zip lock bag and laid in the PB and was able to put 1 layer of 1.5 csm on them. I did pre soak the plywood before I laid the glass.
The last pic isn't very good. It was dark and I had the work light shining down on the work.

I think when you get done, you'll be able to use this as a Marine Landing Craft!!! What a TANK!!!! Your attention to detail, excellent craftsmanship, and dedication to "Doing it Right" Is really showing up in this project. This will be the standard for Deck Boat Restoration on iBoats when you are done.

I realise it may be a little late, but I agree with Wood on this one. "Your attention to detail, excellent craftsmanship, and dedication to "Doing it Right" Is really showing up in this project. This will be the standard for Deck Boat Restoration on iBoats when you are done."

Been a couple weeks. Got any updates?

Hey everyone.
First I want to say a BIG THANKS to each and everyone of you guys that have took the time and made a effort to read my thread.
Your comments have all been great and helpful to me. I really appreaciate the fact that you all have took enough intrest in this thread to comment. Thanks to all of you.

Did get some more work done in the last few days. Have some new pics to share.

Here I put in 3 more 2x2 top rails for the bulk heads.

Here or 6 peices of the bulk heads.

Here is a pic of 1 of them.

.
For each bulk head I made 2 peices to span the hull. For the patterns I just took measurements at equal spaces and marked
the plywood and cut it out. Made a few adjustments and went to the next one.
After they were cut I wanted to seal the bottom of the bulk head that is not conected to the hull.
I used the method of tearing the csm into peices and dabbing them with resin. This worked very well.

Here or more pics of the bulk heads after sealing.

Got out the ole 7" grinder and all the good protection, goggles zoot suit respirator and face sheild, and did the rough and scuff.

Here is a pic of 3 of the bulk heads glued and stapled in place.

I left about 1/4" between the hull and the bulk head that I will seal with PB. I will use the zip lock bag and squirt it in to fill and fillet the gaps.
Hopefully I will be able to finish putting the remaining bulk heads that I have cut out and have them PB in and all glassed tomorrow.

Thanks again guys for your interest in this thread.
Hope everyone had a productive weekend.

I really really really really hope you get to SPLASH tomorrow. We have all been watching and waiting for this.
I have to much work left to do before I can think about a splash date.

The boat was built this way when I started the tear down. I did make one change. The bulk heads were on 24" centers and I made them on 16" centers.
Thanks

Thanks rickryder. I don't remember where on i-boats I found that trick but it sure does work well.
