I'm looking forward to the end of the current Ice Age ...

At this rate, we should get a good, solid 3 weeks of summer :(

Must be getting close to Spring. gwpjr welding the light bracket back onto his Arkansas Traveler trailer:

His Starcraft has been unwrapped and started on muffs to get ready for liquid water season. The Erie Canal in our area has been rewatered and will open this coming Wednesday.

I am new to the forum. I thought I would sign up and contribute instead of just lurking. Last Saturday I purchased a 1981 Bayliner 2750. I am very interested in following your journey. BTW, mine is about as close to original as possible. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions about how they looked when they rolled out of the factory. Once I clean mine up, it will live in Ilwaco Washington.

Will you be performing any restoration on yours? If so, start a thread and we'll look forward to pictures. Lots and lots of pictures. :)

Welcome aboard!

The boat is actually in great shape for her experience. I will be cleaning her up, changing fluids and probably applying new bottom paint.

Finally, some work was done tonight! I sanded down the filets that I did in the fall and prepped the floor in the cabin for glass. I was going to put a layer of 10oz biax on the floor, but realized that we didn't have nearly enough resin. So, I ordered another 5+1.5 gallon kit from US Composites, along with a 10lb bag of cabosil. Hopefully within the next week or so I'll be back to a fileting and glassing machine. It feels like there is some big progress to be made coming up!

Very happy to hear that progress is on its way...
BTW, just curious...mostly because I forgot and I am a bit lazy...you guys are using epoxy resin, right?
How much have you gone through so far?
Thanks and happy Friday!:D

Three packages scheduled for UPS delivery tomorrow from RIVIERA BEACH, FL:

- 41.00 lbs
- 15.00 lbs
- 27.00 lbs

That sure sounds like 6.3 gallons of resin and hardener, and 15 pounds of Cab-o-sil to me! :)

Well it's about time you came out of your hibernation cave ol' fart!;)

I can tell it's spring time up in the north now, GWPSR and Chemicalwire are posting again... good to have y'all back and may y'all be blessed with a painless suntan in the upcoming weeks.

So, do you think she'll splash this year?... or is it going to be in 2015?

If we do, it'll be just the engine and outdrive with no cabin finishes. We'd like to get it wet before painting and finishing all the interior, to make it easier to detect listing issues in the bare boat and see any pesky leaks.

We're about ready to put the remaining superstructure into the forward half, and seal the sole. Then we can plan for the longblock and the marinizing of it.

I just wish I knew if I could ramp launch this thing with the trailer it's on. I may be too chicken to try. Plenty of marinas with cranes and gantries around here though.

 heh...been having a lot of COLD showers lately with all the glass floating around... and sleep? I'll sleep when I'm dead!! I do forget to eat sometimes however..

I'm hoping for the same kinda thing with my boat this season.. there will be a bare wood/glass aft cabin and MAYBE carpet in the main cabin..

I just scored a free fiberglass cap for my pickup from Craigslist! Not made specifically for my model/year, but close enough for packing fishing gear. It's black, so it even matches the trim.

And, I just got excused for the third day of potential jury duty! Good week so far. (I do need to call in tomorrow evening for 'further instructions' however :pray2:)

Replacing post lost in the forum meltdown:

Temps are finally high enough overnight to start glassing again. gwpjr laid down 6oz on the sole in the forward area, and filleted and tabbed the sole in the aft cabin and engine bay.

I'll grab pics of the forward sole later. I didn't want to go in there yesterday with all that resin. Few places to stand :)
