In most boats, I'd prefer old growth, tight grain Fir.

Classic wooden runabouts, mahogany & teak look great, but on a fishing boat, nah, Fir all the way!

Oh boy, Jen just jetted otta here, off to "book club". I think they supposedly talk about books there:rolleyes:

OK, so I need one of you responsible guys to keep an eye on my kiddos so I can keep cranking here. Takers?

My mom always said if you can't say anything other than "I can't believe your yard pass got revoked for book club," then you really shouldn't say anything at all; so I'll just keep quiet....:confused:

But, I digress: This guy says hurry up (and I think he means it):

Geez Jas, I don't know if you are actually gonna make your date on the water, but you sure are cranking out a ton of work in record time, and making it look good in the process...Outstanding!

Here's hoping you have a very Happy Friday with lots of water under the boat...and if that doesn't pan out, then may Saturday see the bottom of the boat properly drenched...and if that......

PS- in your haste, don't forget the plug......or the fuel, or the fully charged battery, or the license papers, or the safety gear, or your keys, or whatever...

Thanks for checking in on me, appreciated. Yah, I got a bunch done today but not as much as I'd hoped for, bummer. Tomorrow is a new day and I'll get after it for sure!

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

So last night, before I cashed out, I walked out to the garage and pulled out the steering cable. I'm pretty sure it's too long:facepalm: I may have a work around though, we'll see...

So, it's a new day, let's see what can happen to this Sea Nymph.

After 3 coats of varnish these are looking pretty nice...

And a bunch of sanding, epoxy and texture thrown in the stern deck hatches are sealed up...

Have a great Friday fellas:)

I hadn't thought of that. I don''t know if it would eat up enough though. Hard to say at the moment but it seems to long to mount straight up and too short to put a loop in. It may be a 1' - 1.5' too long. Ugh.

K, more stuff done.

Right on the bulkhead under the console seemed like a good spot for the fuse block...

This steering wheel cap came off of one of the glassers. I actually threw it away and then later dug it back out just in case...

After some sanding and varnish...

Took my batt trays and made some mods...

Then got the deep cell and starting batts installed in the batt box hatch right in front of the splashwell...

Hard to see in the photo but they are all foamed out at the baitwell, bulkhead and in between. They are in there really solid, like it!

Doin' great Jas. I love old bleacher boards, nice hard doug fir.

You could move your motor over 1'

As a temp just let the cable sag out of the gunwale, not real clean but should take up the excess.

If memory serves, Didn't you do the vacation rush on the Jet too. History repeats ..........

Best of luck on getting to the UP with a usable boat. Enjoy vacation.

We are heading up by T.C for a week on the water tomorrow, hope you're out there somewhere too.

could you do as 64 said letting it hang down and come back up, just run it in sched 40 pvc 1" secured to the bottom of the gunwale so it's clean looking as well?

no time for falling off now, more coffee, more coffee

I'm here and I'm still working. I am on the verge of crashin and burnin and a stones throw from success. I've pushed my all my chips in the middle of the table, I'm all in.

We'll see how this hand plays out...
