So for any one interested I have the V5 in the Hanger next to the 18 SS I/O, so I though a comparison on interior measurements was in order. The I/O has 7 inches less room between the dog hose and the dash compared to the splash well on the V5 to the dash, But the rest of the V5 is way smaller on inside room.

Another tidbit of info, as I was taking fittings off yesterday I noticed the windshield's have a bout an inch of curve to them, never seen this on any other model of the era. Going to have to be very careful with them.

There's plenty of room for a guy up in the bow although a livewell under foot would be a challenge. The nice bonus is the ability to create a downrigger set up aft to hunt down those salmon. Putting the V5 back to being a pleasure boat may be more in the cards for it's design.

I've been considering an older SF in a 17' or 19' that is equipped with a couple livewells already. Around here they come up on CL every week or so but the prices are at times staggering for a roached out 25 year old one.

They are pretty tight in the bow, I may set a pedastal seat up there and take a picture of it.

Oh No - Dozer's Marauders are stirring! Lock up your tinnies, boys. :D

That is interesting with the V5 differences. Now it's clear why they have a sleeker look to to them.

Just checking to see if your watching GA:D our $ is still only about 78 cents U.S.
I was real surprised when I saw the differences side by side.

Holy Cow Rob, he must be in a real hurry to sell:facepalm: You figure it's been in the brine quite a bit? I'm going to contact my old guy in Winnipeg today about the other one to see if it's still available, If not, Hmmm

A little progress yesterday, before I had to take a 8.5 hr road trip to pick up the Admiral.

Kinda a neat little time capsule I found in the glove box, a little bag from the S/C factory marked 18SSV5 snap kit for the window frame.

Consuls out, a little different than the regular SS, instead of bolted to the inside of the gunwale , they are solid riveted to the top.

The only dent/ damage on the entire hull is a real nasty hit on the starboard bow rub rail, the hull will be easy to straighten, but this rub rail channel is going to be a bear.

Once the consuls were out of the way, I could pull out the last of the carpet, and the front two pieces of decking, what was left of them, what mess underneath.

I wonder what would have happened if a guy tried to put fuel in!!!!

Cool find on the snap kit. That rub rail channel looks real nasty. The tear down looks like it's going good even with the occasional break for driving.

On a side note just how far away from civilization do you all live anyway? I've been trying to talk the Admiral into moving out west ( Montana or Wyoming ) for years, but if we have to drive more than 30 minutes to reach a store she freaks out. I'm pretty sure I'd have a permanent frying pan indention on the top of my head if we moved up near you all.:D

Oh, at about 210 gallons the auto bilge pump kicks on.

Didn't the SS 201 have a rotted fill hose, too?

tear down is a fun part this consuming hobby!

Okay multi quote not working again

Yup tearing downs the easy part.

tns,

We live an hour from the closest Walmart, 18 people in our little Hamlet, Any thing medical that requires a specialist is 4 hours 1 way. The Admiral had and artery in here thigh replace back in December and we went in for a check up last Monday and she was put back in the hospital till yesterday. It is one of the draw backs to living where it is quiet.

GAB, yes the 201 had the same problem, I don't think putting hose under the deck is a good idea, I am going to used aluminized exhaust tubing bent to the right shape to replace it. This one definetley had some gas put in after the hose was shot cuz most of the foam on the port side was melted.

The rail is going to be a challenge alright, I don't know what I would do with out the hanger to work in.

Finished the tear down and got the hull outside to scrub and pressure wash.

Splash well out.

Some times I really wonder what the designers were thinking, there was an aluminum floor in the fuel tank well in the center of the hull, when I removed it I found a 2x4 sitting on the ribs to support it jeesh You can imagine the shape it was in.

Outside and washing.

That's as clean as spray 9 a good brush and 2500 psi is going to do.

I'm going to have to give the hull a real close inspection, after washing I have already counted 25 rivets on the center of the ribs with the bucked end missing.
