Try shopping around on the net but Franks in Linwood and Northwoods outlet in Pinconning have the tracks and lots of accessories for it in stock. They both have online shopping but they might not be the cheapest.

Franks will be $$$.

I had a buddy tell me that they were going for $50 at Northwoods which would be sweet! I think he is exaggerating or confused. I may call and check, eh!

The 4 foot tracks aren't $50 I think that they are around $80 each. I haven't looked at them in a while though. I will be running over there in a little while to check to see if they have some spray adhesive for the vinyl for my boat. I'll let you know prices for what lengths.

You rock GA! Thanks!:D:D

Yah, $80 seems a bit closer to reality. I tried calling them, no answer.

Thanks a bunch for saving me a trip and waiting on hold GA!!!! You are the best!

90 bucks doesn't motivate me to jump in the truck. I am in no rush - hopefully I can find a screaming good deal somewhere.

Cheers!

Workbench (don't laugh, I know if you have one it looks just like this sometimes)...
P1010977.jpg

OK, now that I can actually move in there maybe I can get some work done...

Next up, building a replacement for this big hunk of wood...
P1020080.jpg

Glad it stayed in one piece coming out (sort of) so I could use it as a template...
P1020081.jpg

Layout lines...
P1020085.jpg

First cut...
P1020086.jpg

Complete piece...
P1020087.jpg

Then I made a twin! I have some good size trim pieces left that I can turn into supports, stringers or what ever which is cool.

Then I slathered on Tightbond III Waterproof glue...
P1020094.jpg

Both faces for good adhesion...
P1020093.jpg

Then I schmacked them together and piled on everything that I could could find that had weight. Maybe 20 gallons of paint, 7 gallons of epoxy, my hitch rack thing (rather heavy) 6 tires and rims, even the Alpha I made it on the pile...

More progress. It's great that the old one could be used as a template as it's a big time saver.

I like the straight edge. I used a jigsaw as my skilsaw crapped out. I think I need to pick up one of each.

Wow it looks like you spent a good part of the day getting that shop cleared out. Looks like plenty of room for you now.

Nice work on that transom! You couldn't have done a better job weighting that down if someone paid you:D

You know once you have the lower garage set up for trailer/hull work and the upstairs for woodworking you pretty much have a perfect little tin can shop:)

I see more restorations in your future(just think, when the kids are a bit older they will be able to do many of the tasks you've done alone on this one).

Keep up the good work buddy, she will launch this summer at this rate as long as the shop gets that Merc back to ya soon.

Yah, that old transom has served it's last purpose. It found it's way to the burn pile (about like some of your old gear eh).

Just about all of my power tools are Ridgid stuff. While I like the quality out of a DeWalt or Delta or Porter Cable the lifetime warranty on my Ridgid stuff can't be beat. So, they have my business.

Rock On!

Thanks Huron!

Yah, Ryan (nearly 4) was hanging out with me the good part of the day learning stuff and jumping in helping when he could. I am really looking forward to when they get bigger and we can do this stuff as partners, super cool!

Your Merc shop comment is a beaut, Huron! I picked up a little something off of eBay a little while back that will crack you up. I'll post it up when I get to wrenching on that V6:D

Thanks for stopping by fellas! The shop is a huge blessing to me! My old house had a spot that was about 10' by 12' for me to work. Table saw in the middle and everything else creatively stacked everywhere else. Gosh it was hard to work in there! This space that I have now is gigantic by comparison! Love it:D

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

Had a great mom's day today!

I did end up being able to sneak away for just a few minutes.

I needed to replaces these...
P1010061.jpg

We'll call them "stringer meat" as I have no idea what the actual name is.

I took the left over marine grade ply and ripped them to width on the table saw, needed four layers...
P1020142.jpg

Ran 80 grit over them and brushed on the Titebond III Waterproof glue...
P1020144.jpg

Then clamped 'em all up...
P1020145.jpg

Onece everything dries I can cut them to length and epoxy. Only took a few minutes to do the whole thing so I stayed on the good side of mom/wife on HER day, whew!

Nice, now I see why your batcave/workshop is located above the garage. Easy to sneak away and run power tools unnoticed:D
