You need to cut a hole in the ceiling for the antenna,

Being all black and in the shadows, is the VHF small enough to fit in the dash to the left of the wheel?

What do you plan on for a ladder? When a guy gets some years behind him it's tough to mount a platform.

I need to look into one of those battery chargers, was this one a bottom feeder acquisition or did you do some research on it?

I think I probably have three nice stainless swim platform ladders from glassers that were "sent away". I'll just need to see which one will work best for this rig.

I did just a little bit of reading and that one seemed to be a real good buy. I'd tell ya where I bought all my gear but it appears that kind of talk isn't allowed around here anymore. Too bad, I priced out my order with iboats first and then went with another online retailer for about $250 less:black_eyed:

Yah, I checked that, it's just a smidge too wide to get it in there. It's on a RAM Mount right now. I ordered a longer arm which I should be able to get it just how I want it hopefully:watermelon:

Dude, that is just the nicest wheel I have seen. Nice score. I think you should sit next to the antenna and put your arm up on the bow rail to mimic someone sitting there while under way. I would guess you will have to move it closer to the windshield and out of the way of anyone's arms heads, etc. that might be bouncing around while in moderate to rough seas.

My thinking on vhf radio placement is to mount it as high as practical,...

It is the last think I want to go under water should chit hit the fan,...

Yah, that steering wheel was an awesome score:joyous:

Antenna isn't in the way at all. I installed it there as when it's folded down the bow rail actually serves to protect it. If I slide it back further it's kinda exposed where somebody will step on it and potentially break it, ya know.

Yah, I hear ya. If I'm anywhere close to the helm there everything is reachable so it's all good. I fiddled with it forever trying to find a good spot on the console or fixed mount in the console, no good, no more space left up there. I'll monkey with it a bit more to see if I can find a more comfortable spot for it.
:eagerness:

I've been dragging my feet forever on getting these corner caps cleaned up, finally got that job done...

Forgot to snap a photo of them finished and installed so I owe ya that.

I dunno about you guys but one job I do enjoy is laying on the new registration numbers....

I'm thinking there isn't much keeping her in the hangar now. :D

Looking forward to the impeding splash, whats the short list looking like?

Hmmm. The BIG S talk makes me think forward to the 2016 SOTY...

A new category may be in order:
Most anticipated Splash?
Longest topic ever?
Best long slumbering then back from the brink rehab?

Other write in categories maybe?

All looks great, its really coming along now, congrats.

Yah, I still have a lot of small stuff to wrap up but probably the big punch list items would be the dog house, install the new SEI drive,

Yah, I'd be pretty pumped to have this float round about some time in May, that would be cool:becky:

That's only if you don't think an outboard on a bracket is now the best thing since sliced bread. LOL

Not pushin', but May is only 12 days away.

Ya know, I don't think you got this close to the finish on the Islander in any of the permutations, Jas.

With your knee, these seem to be two unpleasant things to do. Take it easy. Ask for help this one time with the heavy stuff. It may have to be the paper guy or someone coming off third shift with your early morning hrs, but I would find help and save the knee. There has to be a teacher or two you know with insomnia. Put out some feelers 😆

Agreed. On the previous versions I was on the "rounding the corner" only to take about a thousand steps back!

Yah, the hard part is bending/squatting, I can't so either:rolleyes: Makes for slow going. Well, I met with the doc the other day and we have a date to rebuild this knee on May 12. I'm going to try and get whatever I can done before that cuz after that day I fear my mobility will take a major hit for a while.

AOK, I'm crossing a bunch of stuff off with this post!

Captains chairs and pedestals are installed...

Both of these spin and the captains chair also slides fore/aft. I likeem a lot! You can also see I had a couple of seat pads built for the seat boxes, great stuff! You'll also notice a big ol mooring buoy up there in the bow. That'll be for when I moore it up at the beach. I got a great deal on it, very heavy duty.

I installed some storage clips for my nav lights in the starboard side seat box...

And then some clips for this boat hook that was salvaged out of a rotten itchy boat...

You can see my fire extinguisher installed up there too.

So here is what my helm looks like now...

I moved the VHF and I like it there a lot better. I also got a cover for my chartplotter to keep that in good condition. I also picked up and installed a nice rearview mirror for when I'm hauling the kids around on the tube. You obviously can't see it but I got the horn all wired up with the mini compressor under the helm station there.

Here's a shot of my horn...

I picked that system up really cheap. I was surprised at how nice it was and how loud too! Pretty happy with that.

AOK, the slow march continues, getting closer!!

I'm liking your helm set up and those chairs are the same ones I have in my Chief so I know you'll like how solid and comfortable they are.

Looking god man!

Lookin' good, Jas. The VHF is much better under the dash. :thumb:

Does the horn sound like a semi or train? It's lookin' good too.

Guess you'll be peg legging around for a while. :blue: But it will be better off in the long run.

Beautiful progress Jason. Please tell us how the captain's seat slides fore and aft. I'm looking for one that will also power lift me so I can stand up easier, but the slider mechanism intrigues me. - Grandad

Yah, they work great. My planning way back in the day with these seat boxes was great too. I mounted them to a solid 2" of ply. Bomber!

Yup, much happier with the VHF mounted there. Well, this horn here actually sounds like a boat horn. It's a high tone but nice a loud:thumb:

Thanks gdad! This one here doesn't have the lift but here's the slide>>>
