Windshield looks real good Jason, You would almost think she was an open bow all her life.

Hi Jason, I've been kinda watching from the sidelines, stupefied, not sure of your change in direction for the bowlander. The windshield helps to get things in perspective and I think she'll turn out just fine. How is the windshield height vs your seat/head height? Since your seat boxes are relatively high, I'm wondering if your face will be above the windshield. - Grandad

Looks great!

Did you consider putting an aluminum support going down each side of the windshield(port and starboard) matching the angle all the way down to the fiberglass?

This could save your windshield from someone leaning/pulling on it and causing damage to it. The angle seems really high...almost 90 degrees(as it sits).
I would also suggest two smaller supports on the fixed glass next to where the center window swings open.
Nothing fancy, some T-channel Aluminum or even angle/square tubing to match what you've got. If yours is SS, you can polish the Aluminum to match.

This will also minimize vibrations...trust me on this one!

Just a thought!

I understand you just got the windshield...so, i apologize if my comments are premature.

But, looking at the pictures made me think of the supports. Especially considering both my boats have them.
The center two supports can simply go straight down to your passenger console and helm area, respectively.

Jason, on a totally unrelated subject...been , meaning to ask what material you have on your ceiling in your garage? Sheetrock/ply?

Looks really good...I'm having to fix my ceiling in my garage and have considered all types of options. Currently have sheet rock that the previous home-owner tried to patch, etc... Looks terrible now, so I'm considering putting either steel roofing material or painted ply.

Just something to give it a cleaner/modern look...

Thanks,

Mario

Hey Gdad, nope, I think the helm seats, consoles and the windshield should all work together nicely. I've been doing a lot of sitting, thinking, dry fitting, looking, measuring, drinking coffee... I do believe she'll be a great setup in the end:thumb:

Looks great!

Yah, that windshield actually came with windshield supports, so, all good there. No extra fab work necessary:joyous:

Yah, just sheet rock. It's really chewed up due to all the work going on in there.

I just went through this entire thread from beginning to end. Great stuff, thanks for taking the time to post all the pictures and videos. I have to admit when you cut the bow open I did a double take, my worries were put to rest when I saw the walk through windshield show up and get mocked in place.

Thanks again, keep posting, I love these threads.

Hey Brian, welcome to the Islander thread! Yah man, I suppose there are a few double takes through this thread. Thanks for seeing it through, I'm honored! :joyous:

Just thought I'd let you guys know I'm still working on this Islander here even though my attention has been divided on two other boats too.

I'm working my way through the bow seating structure at the moment. I should have something for you guys to look at by the weekend I think. Thanks for sticking with me eh:thumb:

OK, lame post, so cool video time.
