Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild
OK, so yah, little slow here, I had to take a few days out to deal with the other boats here on the property. With all the gear and parts being pulled (big stuff too, engines, fuel tanks...) I had to take some time to rearrange storage in my garage. It's getting tight in here, I seriously need a boat barn!
Anyhow, I did cut my hatches and build out the bow seating structure, check it out...
Everything is installed using alum angle and PL, eh.
You can see I cut out access for the bow most hatch. That space will be nice for sweatshirts, towels, sunblock, that sort of stuff.
Course I have the big center hatch. That will be locked storage for the rods and electronics.
Then, there are the two side hatches. Those ended up as kinda two levels and like how it turned out! I'll get access to those by just flipping up the seat cushion. The deep lower hatch will be good for PFD's. The upper level will be perfect for the anchor on one side and the tube/rope/pump on the other...
Liking it!
From here I need to build some hatch bottoms for the two center hatches and a "filler" piece to cover up the pink foam on the two side hatches. Plus a few other minor things - I'm getting there!

Now, that bow rail I had originally planned on certainly has no place on this Islander turned Super Sport. But, I do now have this one, compliments of the Sea Ray!
Yesssssssss!
Great fit!
The cool thing is that it'll swing out wide to accommodate where the windshield will go - also, the "feet" of this new one actually lands right on the holes I drilled out for the other bow rail, so, no repair needed on the gunwales, nice!
