I have one on the port side too. I love these, they are really high quality gear! Check it out, they even built in this spring on the cable to make it easy on the top when I take it off. Really nice!

After that, I cranked on a pair of stainless hose clamps for each fuel line. Man it felt pretty good to be plumbing up the blood lines of this old tub:thumb:

That is slick! Where did you find it?

I grabbed those off eBay. Actually, as I understood from the seller these were built by a very small marine equipment manufacturer that went out of business. I grabbed my cabin dome lights from them too. Heck, I can't think that hardly anybody could compete with the likes of Attwood and SeaChoice ya know.

Yah, but we aren't talking about it anymore:tape2:

Hey Jas, been away for a few days and come back to paint and boat bling! Cool! Don't stress too much over the runs and sags, just enjoy the boat and keep her polished! Great work... :)

Those fuel caps are way cool, an look real quality. I guess after two years a guy can collect quite a bit of bling.:boink:

Yah, it's an entirely different boat already. But, I have more work to do yet!

Thanks for stopping through TII:joyous:

I think you are giving me the business aren't you? I think you are hacking on me cuz it's taking me soooooo long huh!

Deserved:facepalm:

I live in the woods man, my boat would be lost forever!

I noticed that fuel is down to $3.25 this morning. Now that I have those fuel fills all set I considered hauling her over to the Citgo and topping her off!

Thanks Tim, good to see ya man:)

Yes it is! But I did grab some pretty cool latches that I ought to install anyway;)

Ugh, that's the goal here man, I'm tryen:rolleyes::)

OK, simple progress accountability post here.

This morning I installed the 2 fuel senders in my fuel tanks.

I also hooked up the ventilation duct to my exhaust scoops. But, I have a question on those if any of you IO guys are hanging around....

So, I am having a little trouble routing my ductwork. I recognize that the goal is to pull any fumes that settle in the bilge up and out. But, It's going to be kind of a challenge to get the hoses down and underneath the engine, right in the bilge. I can make it happen, but it'll be a big pain.

I'll see if I can post a photo for you guys so you can see with I'm talking about later.

My question goes like this:

Is it sufficient and acceptable to run the duct down to deck level, kinda aimed into the bilge?

Or must I get it right down in there, under the engine, into the bilge?

Edit: Sorry, without photos, I should have included more details - I'll have two blowers pulling air out for the exhaust and one blower pushing fresh air into the doghouse. I'll have a second fresh air vent line feeding when I am on the move (no blower on that one).

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

All this concern over the paint and it looks better than mine.
I went the super cheap and easy route.
IMG_9343_2.jpg

I used the Rust-Oleum Professional High Performance Protective Enamel (Oil-Based) and cut in the corners with a bush then applied three coats with a small High-Density Foam Roller for Doors & Cabinets. I didn't have any runs but it does have minor orange peel. Can't tell from 10' away and I am not going to worry about it since it will just get scratched up anyway and need touch up at the end of each season.

Just smooth/sand out any runs you may have on yours and just enjoy the boat. Or just put your boat next to mine and people will be too busy picking my boat to death that they wont even notice any issues with your paint.

(I know, no more talking about the paint)

Jason, I had the same problem with the 201, that 4.3 takes up all the room between the stringers. I used 3" aluminum flexible dryer venting. It can be shaped to go through the tight spots between the motor and the stringers to get them down low to pull the air from the bottom of the bilge. Dundas Jafine | Flexible Aluminum Duct 3 inchX8 foot | Home Depot Canada

Yah, here's the stuff I'm using..
P1090976.jpg

It's super durable, flexible too, good stuff!

My problem is kinda twofold:

#1 To get it run under my engine It'll make my doghouse a few inches wider than I had planned. Space back there is at a super premium for access and jump seats.

#2 Having it run underneath really blocks everything up and makes access a real pain. Draining for winterization and changing the oil filter would no doubt be easier with those otta the way.

I'll need to shoot up a photo for you guys tomorrow so you can see what I'm looking at eh.
