Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

I kinda figured you'd be putting up a big auto anchor setup out front instead of the cleat... Looks good and ought to hold ya right where you want!

Yah, I don't think I'll be anchoring a ton, but sometimes anyway. I'll also be adding a pair of cleats back closer to the the cabin for docking n' such.:)

If I lived near you, I would have had you drag that project over and I would spray it for you. But you would need to do the prep :)

Well, Maybe I'll just haul er over to ya!:thumb:

I am pretty sure the bilge vent hoses need to go all the way to the bottom of the bilge as the fuel fumes settle at the bottom.

I was sitting, stareing, thinking and drinking coffee this morning. I do believe I have a good solution, I'll head over to my Merc post later and hash it out, eh.

you win a great big ATTA BOY!!

Thanks for the kind words man!:joyous:

I wouldn't have even thought of the separate nav lights to enable that setup...pretty awesome, man!

I spotted a photo of a new Islander with those separate nav lights and I knew I had to have them!

that the bow is going to stay in it's case this year?

Yah, sadly, the outlook for this fall is a lot like the last few, working on house projects and hopefully finishing up this Islander. Oh well, it's all good.

islander needs lots of fluids and rest

And a helm, and electrical work, and a doghouse, and a windshield , and bulkheads, and a new paint job..........

It's not a sickness, it's an addiction! All of us would be referred to as enablers, binge buddies and pushers.

The price and the timing were right...it was probably in worse shape than the Baja you desecrated for the motor and outdrive for the Islander...which I'm over. I cannot see any reason I'd want a tinny? I mean have nothing against them, and I really dig the layout (so far?) of yours...I'm not much of a fisherman...I mean I can sit in a boat all day, drink beer and cuss! When you get a chance swing by and take a look at the progress I've made in 2 weeks...splashed her today (w/o interior)!

She's really coming along now Jas... keep up the great work. If your water's gone hard up your way, why not trail her down to Florida for a winter-time splash? Or you could ship her over to me and I'll do all the splash work for you! :D

With those rubrails in place I could finally make my way over to the castings. So this morning I worked on the bow cap. Here's what I started with, not too bad of shape actually...

Yah man, sleep, someday I'll get some. But for now, I'll skip it in favor of getting this ol tub water ready:thumb:

Hey thanks lok! Yah, a very long time ago, in the beginning of this project, we kinda kicked around the idea that I'm after sort of a "New School Classic" scheme here. I hope I can pull it off:joyous:

I lived in Michigan, I would envision something like this for me getting Jas (played by Jim Carey) ready for his date with destiny tomorrow:

Go get your Mary Swanson tomorrow...
