In Jas' case, he is safe...you see for tinny owners you can call the stuff by its proper name..."FRP" [fiber reinforced plastic]...;):D

JA is using fiberglass. Is the world coming to an end? Sorry man I'm like an std, just pop up from time to time to cause you pain. Looking good man. Can't wait to see you cruise the big girl down the water.

Okay, wow, took me three weeks off and on to read this completely. One word, batteries?:D, sorry couldn't resist. Okay so now I guess I can get back to work on mine. Going to copy those omc stringers, for the conversion in my sc:D. Have access to sheet metal shop(works shop). To make some for me. One can only hope my little sc doesn't turn into this soap opera, :peep: hiding now as Jason throws thumper memorabilia at me.

Fglass? Where?:noidea: PST, great to see ya man!

Going to copy those omc stringers,

3rd, those stringers were awesome for the Merc conversion, made things so much easier. The down side was I had to deal with that giant hole on the backside:rolleyes:

Allrighty, so, for my cockpit panels I just wanted a little foam there. I grabbed this closed cell sill plate gasket for cheap and doubled it on each of the panles...

That, plus the foam backed pleated vinyl I have should be pretty nice I think! Dry fit...

I'll wrap those up with the nice vinyl once I get closer to install.

That's it for now, it's Monday, rats.

That stuff should work real well, totally water proof and very dense, but just a little give. Don't forget the 3M Spray 90 to make your upholstering WOEs go away.

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

My shipment from US Composites should be here tonight so this morning I got to work on the cabin lumber.

I was really bummed about not being able to use that fir I had, I was really wanting that look/tone. But, that stuff I had was just too dry.

I actually ordered a piece of ply mahogany and changed my mind back to the fir. But, instead, I'm going with T&G porch flooring stuff, off the shelf stock.

Here are the pieces, cut to size for the two cabin bulkheads and cabin door...

(Now you can see what I'm thinking with that fiberglass;))

There is hope for this pile. ;)

I always love getting stuff from US Composites...

Hey, here's something new! Ooooooo, preeeeeeeettttyyyy...
P1100408.jpg

Here's one of the bulkheads getting joined. I clamped up some ply on edge so the pieces wouldn't buckle on me. I'm using epoxy for the glue up rather than the standard Tightbond...

As a matter of public service to the iboats community (and mankind in general), I took the liberty of preserving the historic moment of Jas glassen up his tinny (see new signature line)...

Say it ain't so!

You need to use rivets in the fiberglass or the tin gods will be angry, very angry!
