Hey, you ready for walleye season Maddie??!! You fishing the festival?? The river looks to be headed to normal levels pretty quick here.

Been pounding them the last few weeks! The Detroit river is on FIRE!!! No festival for me. The saginaw river is going to be tough fishing. Headed back to the D for the next three weekends. That would be a perfect place for a certain 16' boat I know of...

I like GT's design. I really think the guys are correct about it being a pain to work on the thing if you gotta work around a big portion of the cover if it swings forward. Can we please stop using the word ''b---ery'' in this thread? It kind of makes me start to twitch.

Bah, that'd be a bit of a haul for me (in my current world at least).

I'm more of a sneak out, fish some, sneak back mode. My Life Supervisor keeps close tabs on me ifyaknowwhattamean:whip:

If the weather cooperates (looks like it should) the Tibb and Saginaw "should" be good fishing. Though busy. I hate busy.

Exactly.... I'd almost rather stay home than go out when it's busy...... Friggin makes it more of a PITA and not much fun having to keep eyes everywhere and worry about making someone upset..... etc...

Yah, me too. I'll just keep the boat on the trailer rather than fight with doods on the water, that's just dum.

A busy ramp is the worst! I'll never forget taking the boat out on memorial day two years ago. Had to circle the boat ramp for 55 minutes waiting to leave. There was a few arguments that nearly turned into brawls. Never again!

It's been a while since I've been on. Missed a ton. Boat looks great jas!

I can relate. Best I can do is a link to the pic. Maumee River Walleye Run. When the water is high enough the boats are in just as thick! In this pic there is a boat ramp off to the right. Imagine how busy lol. All in all good fishing. Sometmes it's kinda fun to sitback and watch the dubockle! http://www.walleyerun.com/phpBB3/download/file.php?id=1545&mode=view

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

I made the mistake of going fishing last year on memorial day, a few guys kept cutting in way to close to the rear of my boat taking my line of...

the final one somone caught it on their prop as they sped past us (way to close), i got a good tug, it felt like I had a huge fish!!
Since I figured it was time for new line anyways I let him have the entire spool...

All right, so, my fellow tinhead, OB lovin buddy EZ mentioned to me on the PM side that my daily dosage of "focus" meds might need an adjustment. He might be right;)

I do know my "short lists" surely help keep me on track and I haven't done one in a while. So, just thinking out loud, to do, short list:

1. Finish out cockpit combing pads.

2. Build/seal the cabin bulkheads and door (I decided not to go with mahogany ply).

3. Cockpit paint prep.

I've got the Epoxy on order from US Composits for the rest of the wood building on this Islander, should be here tomorrow I think. There may (or may not) be a specific type of boat building material included in that shipment:behindsofa:

It's going to take me a chunk of time just to wrap up those three ^^^ eh. Cheers and thanks for your tolerance guys:joyous:

Jason - Could you be suffering from 5200 deprivation? I don't recall any uncontrolled slatherings lately.

Those three items on your short list represent a big chunk of work. I know there many other things to get done, but all the heavy lifting is done. In itself, a major accomplishment. Rock on, Dood!

wow!
that's nuts

I would go for the "drop off the boat, go park and let me know your location, I'll beach or wade out a little to get aboard" method :p

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

Allrighty, I really didn't want fastener heads showing on my cockpit combing pads at the finish. So, this morning I clamped up those cockpit pad backers all the way around the gunwales, and drilled out 1/4" holes (sorry I didn't manage to grab a photo of that).

Then I took 1/4" ss carriage bolts, swiped on some Gorilla Glue, and sunk em into the backer...

From here I can just wrap the backers with foam, vinyl, push the whole assembly through the holes I already drilled out in the gunwales, bolt up, good to go. That Gorilla Glue will seal up the hole I drilled and help keep from spinning when I bolt it up.

(Hope all that makes some sense)

That's it for today.

Hey, it's Friday, have an awesome weekend!:joyous:

It does to me. I don't like hold down hardware through upholstery either. Maybe you should call the coming supplies "Wood Preservative" so no one takes offense over the FG relationship? :ambivalence:
