Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

OK, time to start rolling again on this Islander project! I'd like to get a little more serious on this but man, it was so tight in the garage. The first order of biz was to get the Sea Nymph wrapped up and pushed outside. Then I got the Islander turned diagonal in the garage so I could have a little elbow room.

I took the old cabin bulkheads and made some templates, dry fit...

I'm actually still trying to decide what material to use there, frustrating. I need to make that decision, like, today.

So I'm amped about this! I really wanted seat pedestals that slide and rotate but they are soooo expensive. I've been looking forever to score a good deal. I nearly gave up and considered fixed pedestals. Spotted a pair of these on eBay for less than a hundred bux, shipped, sweet!

I had to dig out my seats and set em up just to see....

I'm pretty excited with how that's shaping up!

Those pedestals are super nice. What a deal! I had to keep an eye on GLS to find mine and they only had the two when I did snag them.

Looking good Jas, I'm sure it's nice to be plugging away on the Islander again.

It's looking like your gonna have a real seated splash with the Islander - No milk crates ala SN splash. Good find. And good seeing progress again. :D

You won't be back on your boat for weeks- only 154 pages to go. BTW T3C - skip the battery location stuff. :)

TTT - You have to realize this thread is really "Zen And The Art Of Tin Boat Restoration". It's a discussion of life with bits of boat building thrown in here or there. There is joy and there is sorrow. It's become a family. And every once in a while a glasser is sacrificed to the god of Tin, who is held in high esteem in some North American Countries. :hail: :hail: :hail:

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

Allrighty doods, past couple of days I've been just cleaning up the garage/shop and sitting in the Islander thinking about the road ahead. Man I have a long way to go yet.

Here's kind of a boring video update. Sorry, this isn't a pretend splash ride. I didn't have those captains chairs bolted down so I surely would have split my skull open and bled out....

You know, just getting the vision is all. Hey, hope you guys have a fantastic weekend!:thumb:

Some real good thinking out loud there Jason. Are you going to make your dog/house two piece, like the one in my SS? Just my opinion but it makes checking fluid levels and pre-flight checks easier.

Good to see a "thinking out loud" vid, Jas, It's been a while. I think the coaming treatment is good, with the vinyl will add a nice touch.
