Nice work man... looks great. Did the Simple Green work well === meaning did it require a lot of coats to clean it up... or did spraying it on work well first try?

Yah, I love my Simple Green, makes quick work of greasy nasty stuff. Funny! I buy mine by the gallon too!

OK, some progress - been working on the fuel system. Of course while I was working, I just had to jam a fuel line right into my curing seam of 5200:embarassed: Ugh, what a mess!

Hang tight and I'll get some photos going here in a bit...

Here's some video action for my fellow boat builder nerd friends...

I like the valve. I would have to reverse the handle, though. I wouldn't be able to see the arrow once everything is installed. Operating by feel, I would then have to remember that I want the tank opposite of the way the handle is pointing. Of course, there is the fact that if you want to change tanks, you probably just want the "other" tank :embarassed: so handle direction may be moot.

Fun to see progress on the old girl.

J been a while since I chimed in but the rig looks great. Does that lid seal that live well? just curious!. Also look further into the bracket on the trim pump I lopped off the silonoid side and mounted it to my dog house bulkhead and moved the pump closer to the transom for more room in the rear of my engine bay just had to make a few longer wires. I really like the fuel tank selector valve as well.
PMC which one are you Napoleon or Uncle Rico? Classic best part of the flick.

Hey Fanny, great to see ya man!

On the fish box - I have yet to add some gasket around the rim there. At that point it'll pretty much seal up. It's main function is more like a fish box than a livewell kinda. Though, we'll certainly going "aquarium" with the family on board:joyous:

That's a great idea to separate the solenoid, I wasn't even thinking about that. I was mainly focused on chopping off the rusted portions.

Cheers man!:frog:

Re: 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

Speaking of trim pump, here it is installed. Kinda tucked the upper portion up into/under the stern deck...

You can see in this shot how crowded things are getting back there already...
P1090864.jpg

I still have a bunch of rigging that needs to run through there too.

Man am I glad I backed off of building out hatches back there. That would have been a total practice in frustration!

If you are wondering...

"Dood, why the heck is it so tight back there?"

Gotta remember, I chopped off that gunwale "ridge" that I completely hated a while back. Doing that reduced my gunwale width all the way around (of course increasing my cockpit space at the same time). At the stern there I probably reduced that space by about 6" or so.

All right, fuel system check, trim pump check!

I think I'll start picking away at some electrical type stuff from here.

Have a fantastic weekend fellas!:joyous:

Hey Jas - Ain't it nice to be crawling up in there in a nice. clean space instead of having 40 years of grease and grime covering every thing. Maybe that's the nerd in me. You made the right choice to skip the storage back there.

Looking good... The trim pump/motor and the fuel line connections look great... Nice work!

Yeah, its probably good that you begged off on those storage compartments. I/0s don't like to share their portion of the sandbox with others...

J I don't know abpout you but I think you can still squeeze some realastate space back there by puttin a couple of 90's on the fule selector valve and shoring up those fuel lines to the transom tuckin it in there nice and tiddy. I know space management is just looking at it a couple of times after each step but I really like all the open space you have.

Oh man, here I thought you were one of the cool kids!

OK, so now that you are a tru blue OB guy I kinda feelin like that was just a low grade backhand you dished out right there:suspicious:

Nah man there's nothing for space back there. That photo might make it look like there's some elbow room but there's nuttin. Especially after I add in all the rest of the rigging, it'll be cramped for sure. I'm really glad I waited to build out my dog house too. Now that the engine is in place and the connections are happening my idea of how I'm going to build it is very different than what I was originally thinking. Cool, time/$/frustration saved!:joyous:

All right, deck hatches all sealed up...

I also started in on the electrical stuff. Here's the engine side of my fat/freebee batt cables (ton of cash saved right there, sweet)...
P1090867.jpg

Now, do any of you guys have comments about what the other ends connect to? Anybody have a smart remark about my batt placement? Any of you boys lookin for a knuckle sammich this early on a Saturday morning? Anybody?:mad-new:
