Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

I know, embarrassing really:facepalm:

I'm usually a little better catching dumb stuff like that.

Ah well, we'll have it figured and fixed in a jif:)

Side note...

I went out to the Sea Nymph this morning (after I blew it on the Islander) and flipped her over - just a gesture of commitment to the big girl:D

So, what did we get done today? We're on a deadline you know..., and we don't have time for do overs... I'll let it slide this one time.

Stupid question I know but can you just flip it. I'm guessing NO but I have to ask.

TDF has a point... or just use it as is... easier access to the battery and both ends of the cooler.

She just missed you... she's just sayin' "hey, don't let me be for so long ever again"!!! No worries, Jason... progress is still progress even if it takes a doglegged turn!

Yah fellas, got a new carcass cut and just about assembled. Work has been kicking my butt over the past few days. This is probably going to be a 75 hour work week for me, ugh:(

I should have that new carcass assembled/laminated and epoxied by this weekend. Maybe even installed if all goes well:)

See in Canuk Land... minimum work week hours is 90.... so you're getting close! :D

Still sounds like you are making good progress though. Looking forward to seeing it in the big girl!

You do realize Jason you keep dropping this nice girl for others all the time and she may fight back, with little things here and there.:confused:

I flinch every time this thread has a 'CHANGE of PLANS' post:eek:.....

I've also developed a horrible twitch in my left as it is visually assailed by these words.....

Better keep that hitch latch locked, and a parking boot on BOTH tires! Else the next thing you know, the Islander will be out on the street, looking for some strange trailer hitch & ball to take her home for some much needed love & attention.....

Maybe in a year or so when the FireFlite is finished we can splash it & the Islanded the same weekend:p Yeah, as if you won't dig right in where you left off here the day you get back from the week trip to the lake w/ the SN.

Just go ahead and admit that you and the Islander are splitting up... Its sort of painful... Everyone in town knows you have cheated on her with 3 different boats; younger-sleeker models with narrower beams; she knows it too.... I guess its some sort of co-dependent thing... Maybe she just can't give up the finer things like the spacious, warm garage in the winter...

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

Nah, no way! She's my girl, I'm glad she stays with me!;)

Truth be told...

1. The lake we are headed to this summer and the types of stuff we will be doing (our kiddos and our friends kiddos bobber fishing) we will be much more comfortable in the Sea Nymph than the Islander. Shoot, the little ones can barely see over the gunwales on the biggen.

2. There are a few items on the Islander that I really do not want to rush through. Specifically paint, upholstery, cabin bulkheads (wood) and the swim platform (wood). I very much want to take my time and do that stuff well rather than fast. I think I could pull it off but I rather do better than just "pull it off", knowhattamean.

I's allllllllll good:)

I do hope you all have an awesome weekend!

And, if you actually have a boat that floats (rare in the iboats dry dock) have fun and enjoy:D

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

Ah man ez...

OMC Stringer to Mercruiser conversion complete.:)

Transom seal, bearing and bellows job complete.:)

I have to think the hardest stuff this IO has to dish out is behind me.:D

Oh yah, the outdirve......

I have a secret there......

A while back I sold the one that came with Thumper the Baja for good money and am going SEI:D

No water pump to deal with, no U Joint assembly to pull and rebuild, no seals to replace...

Just bolt and go, and 3 years of no fault warranty to boot. Yah baby;)

That's cheating Jason, I call foul.

I'm happy to take my time in the box, way worth it:D

I figured the outdrive would be thevery last thing to happen on this Islander and I'd be itching to get out and run it. So, skip a whole bunch of steps and float.

Okay I'll give you that one, I guess it's a good thing you didn't buy the SEI right away then, as I'm sure you wouldn't want to waist the three year warranty sitting in DRY DOCK :D:D
