Oooooo, you caught that did ya?

He is being modest..... What he didn't tell you is that he is winning our big challenge by about 23 miles (he just can't post the score yet, because its not "officially" over, although the fat lady is warming up her vocal chords).... Plus, he gave me a couple of freebies, because he felt sorry for me....

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

Well alrighty then. Now that my attention to boats is no longer divided, I believe I need to get back to the big boat;)

So talking with Ryan (5 yeas old) and he was pretty bummed about having the Jet no longer part of our family. Me too.

OK, Jen is really into "theme" birthday parties, so this morning she was asking Ry what kind of party he wants this summer. He says "FISHING BIRTHDAY!:D:D"

His 6th birthday is July 26th.

I now have a goal for this Islander.

K, I need to back into the routine of "at least one thing done every day" on this big tub. I'm doing a bunch of landlord duties this weekend so not a lot of time but I wanted to post this for those of you out there who are in need of batts. The two I had went with the Jet sale so I needed new ones.

Super deal on Exide's over at Menards. I grabbed a starting and deep cycle for $60 and $70 plus there is a $10 mail in rebate on top of that. That's purdy good deal and I have read positive things about the Exides. They come with a 12 mo. free replacement on the deep cycle, 40 mo. on the starting.

Heads up, I think today is the last day for the sale though.

Have a great Sunday yall:)

Yah GA, feeling good about getting back to the big girl. I bolted the trailer tongue today and hauled her out to do some garage spring cleaning. She enjoyed some fresh air from the many months all cooped up...

Oh yah, for those of you that have been following along since back in the day - I found an interesting use for that original oil pan off the 4.3...

Great score on the batts...where u gonna put them again????

Fishing B-day...man I wish I had a pop like you...you are the awsomest!

Hey, which reminds me...you have to finish the Islander for that to happen...get it in gear man, what are you waiting for...

House chores, after work...go to sleep, wake up at midnight...Islander...rinse and repeat...go man, go!!!

With that kind of schedule you won't even have to train for the mudder...you will have more stamina than any of those other slackers...:D

OK, the oil pan makes almost as interesting a storage place for gloves as does the under-deck of the Islander for empty detergent jugs...

Your were definitely not dropped when you were a baby...they body slammed you ala World Wrestling Federation...

Lotsa LUV Brutha...I got your back...

Hey fellas, thanks for swinging threw eh!

Yah, not much progress on the boat, mostly organizing my garage and workshop (spring cleaning type stuff). Something interesting has been happening over the past few weeks though. I have been sleeping, and I like it! Pretty much wake up, pot o coffee, quick iboats check, run, go to school. Course that extra sleep I'm getting has sure hurt my boat building! Rats.

OK, let's get a quick update here.

So I built the port side seat box/fish box. I won't waste a lot of build description words but here are some photos for yall...

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

I hear your visual esthetic concerns, but before you lower the port box, how are you going to use this boat & it's cabin? Just for getting out of the sun during a fishing day trip? Taking a much needed siesta after fighting muskies since dawn? Or an all afloat camping, never really going ashore so no campfire for cooking, etc?

If you're taking the family camping, I'd suggest you might like the top of the current height port box for a counter-top. Maybe not as a cleaning station for fish w/ an operable lid, but a spot on the boat for a coleman stove/cooktop, etc.... It's been awhile, but why is the rear of the starboard seat box lower?

Fab on the seat boxes turned out great, btw. Have a great weekend.

Actually, all of the above. My hope is to build a rig that's as much a hard core fishing rig as it is a family fun boat pulling tubes around and stuff. I do hope I can pull it off.:)

Well, for camping, we'll be on land for that kind of stuff (cooking, sleeping and such). The boat cabin will be great for an afternoon siesta or just a place for the kiddos/wife to get out of the sun.

Hmmmm...

Maybe I'm not getting the question but I'll answer this way - the rear of the port side seat box is higher to accommodate the cooler height.

Really, if I chop the extra height off the port side seat box I'll only be losing a bit of height off of the fish box. I think it could be argued that I really don't need that extra height anyway. I've kinda formulated a plan to still have a fish box, just not so tall, eh.

Thanks:D

Yeah, I seemed to remember the port box was always a bit taller for the fish box/cooler, but I thought you had a taller captain's seat box planned once before, seat mounted directly to the box, no seat post, & then lowered it.

Either way, if the height @ the port ain't needed, trim away. I do remember you having some skills w/ the demo, sawzall & such:D.

As oops is so fond of saying: Remove everything that isn't the fish box/seat box:cool:.

Headed out for a sales jaunt north... Have a great weekend.....
