Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

I'll see what I can do for ya Skagen! It's been a while but I'm thinking I was about to do a few minor clean up/fix up things then move on to building seat/storage boxes and the engine install. Action should resume at the start of the new year:)

Well, I suppose I can wait that long. Since I'm getting a boat that's going to be in decent shape, I splurged a little today. I bought a toy for my other hobby...

I still have plenty of funds for the boat, since there's an excellent chance I won't have to do a lot of resto on it.

Man, glad you & the 'crew' weren't hurt. Maybe you should post some kind of a warning @ pg 23/24 of your thread:
No Starcrafts were harmed in the making of this resto
:eek::facepalm:

Or:
Please set all food & beverage consumables far away from your keyboard, mouse & screen before proceeding. And evacuate all oral & nasal cavities.
This thread may induce soda/milk/frosty adult beverages to be expelled through the nose!
Un-chewed cookie bits too
That wasn't so bad. Everything smelled like Tollhouse Chocolate Chip cookies for about an hour! not good, really not good........

I had to clean my screen after the laughs. It went from damn, that sucks! To 'That right there is funny, I don't care who you are!' in mid cookie wash down sip:eek:. All I can say is NOT PRETTY my friend NOT PRETTY! I laughed so hard at the gif, I had to re-post it! Even shart'd myself a little bit:facepalm:

If ya don't know, I ain't telling. Or what movie I stole it from!:D

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

Sorry about this ^^^^

But CBK really out did himself! Oh & I abused you to get #'s 99 & 100. Thanks for letting me use ya! I got some work done this weekend, spent some time getting to the almost half way point on this thread. I have to say, even knowing it was over a year ago. I jumped up & cheered at your 1st posted firing of the 4.3! Super stoked you only had a dented oil pan knock! Got some holiday stuff to do, maybe I'll get to more current this week.:D

Thanks for the great motivational posts & info! You & EZ have me planning the trailer rehab & I'm not yet totally gutted yet.

Have a great week! & thanks for the 99 & 100th! JC

Thanks jb! Yah, getting that Mercruiser running was easily the high point on this project so far:D Low point? Grinding rust off the trailer:(

Re: 1976 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

Well, crap. I was hoping to catch up on the last 3rd of this thread while you were 'wasting' all that time w/ family & xmas, & slacking a bit on the resto. Against the expressed wishes of the mob. Now you tell me you're going after it again. That means you'll be adding to this??? I guess I need to minimize the iboats window & read some while I'm at work:rolleyes:

Ssshhhh! don't tell nobody!:D

Keep up the good work, & soon you'll average about 6months per restore & you'll be churning out 2 a year! And then you can quit that silly day job & focus on your natural talents: whipping tinny wrecks into fish fighters, and sacrificing 'glass wrecks to the tinny gods! Might have to wait for that until the boys can more actively help w more of the actual work.......
I can see the sign from here:
JAS & Son's Tinny Rehab Shop! ~ We fix it right, or we won't do it. Hourly shop rate negotiable, we'll most certainly want to take our time! :p
Fish fighting tips are welcome, cash tips too!

Have a great day! Thanks for the laughs & tears! I've gotta get the 650 off my transom so I can get the hull off the trailer. And make it purdy like yours! Rust dust has a much better flavor then the noxious bouquet of grinding fiberglass! Itches & burns less too!

Have a great day! Thanks for the laughs & tears along the way!

Hey, I can still smell cookies??????

Sell the car, get a truck, you'll need it;):D

Yeah right, I love my Caliber. Plus I live in Syracuse, so I like driving something ORANGE!! I'll probably get a Durango, or whatever is available at the time. My gf is looking for a new car and she likes SUV's, so I hope she gets one. BTW Jas your restores are a great Inspiration along with all the others on this site. Thanks!!

Hi Jason:

On a glass boat thread you don't see as much emoting all over the place as you see on a tinny thread. I thought I was in a sewing circle for a moment!

Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and Happy Holidays to you all.

Best Regards:

CPT - Thanks for the kind words man! I should have the cover off this rig and back in the garage ready for action this weekend. I was going to actually push it in this morning but I slept instead, very rare for me. I like it:)

I thought I was in a sewing circle for a moment!

Did you just liken my Islander rebuild to a bunch of women sewing????

:eek::eek:

Dood, the mob can load up and head to kanuckland for a KW beat down!!!!

Re: 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

Hey,
Just in time for xmas: an add-on service for the Jas & Son's Tinny Shop

I don't guess there are any Walleye cleats currently available, but you could buy the business & make your own! No Tide jugs, noodles or ladders need to be recycled, or have parts scrounged from unsuspecting 'glassers that find themselves on the property! And then are never seen from again!

We have our own mob gathering just off the property torches_and_pitchforks.jpg
to ensure no more 'glassers fail to leave the property intact & floatable!:D:p:D:facepalm:

Re: 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

I was huffing too much FG dust and can't remember if it was the something shiny, potato salad, pie, or maybe it was the Tide cap stealing gremlin but by page 6 or 7 I got distracted on this. Over the past two days as I worked on a wood project I read through the other 125 pages while I waited for the glue to dry.

Good lord, this thread has WAY too much yacking in it for a cover to cover read! :p

I had started picture booking it by then and I have to agree :p

I thought I was in a sewing circle for a moment!

All I can say is the funniest things are based in truth.

Even though I knew the outcome it is a page turner. From your emotional roller coaster w/ Ethan(glad he's doing well) to the buyers remorse and big whew of a dented oil pan.

So now that I'm all caught up I'm ready to take my place in the mob.

I know you said in the new year, but just to make sure I'm not out of practice SO WHEN YOU GONNA GET THAT MOTOR IN??????:D Also wondering if your brave enough to declare a splash/sea trial date?

Here's wishing you a Merry Christmas from me and mine to you and yours.

Good luck with that, ha!:D

Thanks for hanging in there truck!

Well, based on where I think I left off...

Come January I do believe I'll be working on the engine install along with a variety of other things. I kinda figure I'll work on the Merc a bit to accomplish something. Then have the need to read/research, order a new part, what have you - in the meantime, work on other stuff like the cockpit, swim platform, paint, vinyl, helm, plumbing, electrical and on and on and on...

I still have lot's to do, so, set a voyage date? No way, you guys will try to hold me to it!!! And hollar at me along the way! I learned my lesson:) If you really have to have a date let's go with this time next year. Go ahead and mark it down;)

Alright! the man has made a statement of commitment to begin the journey to get to the end...
The calendar is marked for the day after the Mayan Calendar end of the World Day!!!...
How Fitting:facepalm:, and I suppose "splash day" will coincide with the rapture...LOL

Merry New Year and Happy Christmas, Bro!

Re: 22' Starcraft Islander Rebuild

Yep, did you feel it. The earth's tilt has just changed! :p Are the planets in alignment?

It was said in a most uncharacteristically impressive, authoritative & confident tone! I think he's got a little something up his sleeve:

In actuality, he's probably way ahead of where he posts he is. And he'll spring an unexpected & early splash date on us, when we've been following progress online in this thread, & only expecting him to be completing just the paint.

"More to follow as we closely monitor this developing situation at the Jas & Sons Boatworks compound. Jerry, back to you at the newsroom...."

Commentary as reported by another broadcast network: "Little is known about this secretive boatbuilder's drive & abilities. He repeatedly claims he's never played this new fangled game baseball, then throws 3 straight strikeouts & hits 1 outta the park at his '1st ever' at bat. This second effort is shaping up to be equally impressive...."

Actually, they really want me to get some more work done before they unchain me from my desk!

I hope jas is ready for the mob with this complete lack of pictorial progress on anything in weeks.
