Wow...she turned out perfect Michael, very nice work!:D:D

I like the name "Not Skunked" too. I'll bet you keep her nice for years in the boat barn too.

Good luck with the splash!

I agree, looks like a new $40K boat. It looks very modern. Congrats on a great job. It's great seeing some of these boats hitting the water....

Drum roll please.........SPLASH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Had a great ride on Sebago lake with my dad. There was a storm moving in and it was bretty breezy in the big bay but it was a good opportunity to try her out on some decent waves. The ride was better than I expected. Pretty smooth and the spray didn't get to us at all even though we were pounding the waves pretty hard at times. It was too rough to use the camera in that stuff.

Everything went pretty well but the motor still needs some tweeking. Idles high at 1500 and 1000 while in gear and sputters every 10 seconds while idling in gear. As for top end she would only go to 5000rpm @ 39mph on gps. Toward the end of the ride it would only go up to 4500rpm and started to stall at idle as we got to the dock. I have the manual and am pretty mechanically inclined but I think I'll take it to a pro to fine tune. Gas consumption seems like it wont be an issue. After using it pretty hard for an hour I might have burned 4 gallons. No water came out when I pulled the plug so I don't think there are any serious leaks, if any at all.

40K? If the Admiral though I could get that it would be on the market. Seriously tho, just out of curiousity, what do you think I could get in the North East?

Come along for the ride.

That's wicked freakin' awesome. I'm in a training class (Shhhhh) so I had to watch the videos without sound. I am making the Vroommmmmmmy noises in my head while watching. She looks beautiful and with a little professional help (hey we can all use that) she'll be running like new. Congrats!

Looks FANTASTIC. It performs better with the 90 than I thought it would and sounds great. I'm sure the idle and sneeze will be a simple fix. Congrats!

Beautiful work man. Much better than factory...more of a custom order. That 90 moves you along nicely. Let's get out on the water every weekend now :)

Re: 1974 Starcraft Chieftain 18' OB refit

I appreciate all the positive responses folks. I feel almost lost now that I can slow down and chill. Found myself going through the extra parts last night. Soon I'll be posting up on the SC parts thread so keep an eye out there if you need something.
Part of my engine woes was caused by the timing advance arm working loose and backing off almost all the way. Still can't get the idle down but I have an appointment with an E-Rude guru next week. Running new NGK plugs and they all look nice and tan even though I'm running all that sea foam. I agree with EZ that the fix should be simple. Now I have to decide if the boat fund or house fund gets a hit. I suppose that's really up to the Admiral.

A couple things came up that need to be addressed. The trim switch on the control arm keeps getting stuck and the battery selector switch seems busted. What is it with switches? LOL

Those motors want no parts of NGK plugs.

Yea I read that over on the J/E forum recently. I think I'll get some champions and save these for a real decarb. Thanks for watching my back EZ.
