The tape is off and the paint did not pull up a bit and it was only 6 hrs old when taped. Its already very hard to scratch but I'll be cleaning that black often I think. Pics tomorrow.

That is good news right there.

Of course it didn't. That's cuz you used the green tape. ALL HAIL THE GREEN TAPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep the list is getting a bit shorter all the time. This part is taking way longer than I though it would but thats typical for me. While toiling over the paint I got my belly tank and now my seats and pedistals are on order. Check, check.

That green tape worked great but now Lowes is carrying green "frog tape". There is also yellow available and I only found it at Sherwin Williams so far. Its supposed to be more fresh paint friendly than the green. Thats what I'm going with when I tape off the black to do coat #2 on the bottom.

Here are pics of how she looks in her new party dress. Before the last coat went on I pounded out that little dent with a framing hammer and luckily it came out pretty well and nothing fell off. The pics are taken in overcast skies. Its been raining off and on here since 15 minutes after I rolled her in the garage with wet paint so I haven't seen it in bright sun yet so I don't know if its a 5' or a 50' paint job.

Oh man looks nice Michel!

Listen, you'd really help me out in my hull color decision decision if you could hang that OB and take some video of you driving around the lake ok? Is that cool? Like today or tomorrow can ya do that?

Up side down just doesn't give me the full effect ya know.

Thanks for helping me out man:D

That's lookin' really sharp!

Maybe you can find a neighborhood kid to come by every couple days and polish the boat? Every waterspot would keep me polishing day and night...

Looking great Mike I like the black and white paint job the black on the back looks good too difficult to decide where to stop one color and start the next . It's going to be really sharp when finished keep at it.

Re: 1974 Starcraft Chieftain 18' OB refit

Good to see you guys!
When I finally pulled her out of the garage and inspected it in full sunlight I noticed a couple small holidays. It was covered but it looked like I lost the wet edge a couple times. I had 1/2 qt. of black left and decided to try to shoot 1 more coat. JUST barely made it with 1/4" left in the sprayer. I prolly could have buffed it but that paint would have just sat on the shelf for years anyway. I did get a back-up qt. incase but I'll return it and get my $40 back. This 3rd coat looks even better and the work of sanding between coats is paying off. Going with rusto on all top sides and interior. Changing from the mist grey to white so I can match with rusto. The mist was almost white anyway. Last coat of pettit white on the bottom today. Weather has been good to me.

If it weren't for the advice of YD and WOG this part of the project would have gone differently. Thanks guys!

Another ole timer stopped by while I was masking and asked me if I was going to sell it. I said no and we had a nice chat. Everything has a price tag but it would be very high on this boat. Lots of drive by rubber neckers lately.

The day I brought the Nassau home I took the pics I posted. Wasn't there 5 minutes and a guy asked if I was selling it cause I taking pics. You are looking great MP. About time to flip and start putting the old gal back together?
