lookin good. but yeah, hard to splash her without a transom.

i do suspect your big bend may create minor issues with filling that tank....have to fill it slowly, methinks, to avoid fuel splashing back up the hose and causing pump to shut off. not that i've come up with any better solution for major bends needed. copper pipe fittings would work if you put a "bead" of solder at each end to keep hoses in place.

Oh yeah, that looks like some serious work and a couple of chores are now in the can! The filler hose bend is going to cause trouble as fas as having to use the weight of the fuel above in the line to force the fuel below up and over the loop then on to the tank, it may be a slow one to fill.

By looking at the keyhole I see your still needing to drill your 6 stud and bolt holes through. Also your horse collar on the inside as well to get your 2" - 2 1/4" transom thickness. I'm in the same stage as you with mine although I did get my new 3/8" ply horse collar glued on with some PL. Upgrading to the Alpha One has caused a few alterations and a new set of holes need drilled to match.

Get that power plant in this weekend and I can see a splash real soon in your future.

Hey Cj, seating area looks real good and comfy to boot. The fuel hose you certainly need to rework. Bringing it in higher in the box will eliminate any fuel that will stay trapped in the hose in the low section of the bend. Putting the bend just under the shelf and over will allow the fuel to flow smoothly down to the tank. Check out pg 12 on my thread there is a pic of where I brought the fill hose through the side panel and then into the tank.

That's a great solution B2. I did an internet search and you are spot on man... Off to HD for some copper 45's.

No power plant in yet H20, but getting close.

I saw how you built your boxes with out that side piece next to the gunnel side boards (like the factory did it). I ended up building my boxes with a side piece and cut a hole for the hoses right where the box starts the rise up for the seat. So, I'm kind of locked in where the fill hose enters (without a lot of work). I'm going to follow B2's suggestion and use a copper 45 or 90. Thanks for watching out for me cause I hate a slow fill plus would always have gas in the fill pipe

No pictures yet... but it did happen... I promise :D

The transom is in and sealed. The gimbal housing is in, but no engine yet due to rain. The sun should be shining for the next few days so I'm hopeful :joyous:

Dozer used a pipe inline on his fuel fill hose on the current project. I don't think it's copper or has a bead as a hose keeper at the end......

I used pre-bent aluminized 1.5"exhaust elbows for the real bendy part of my fill hose, they have one end expanded to slip over each other, then double clamped each hose joint. It sure eliminated kinked hoses to make filling terrible.

Glen---where'd you find em? getting hard to find pipe in that size, as everything north of a SmartCar seems to use bigger tubing these days.

I found them at Canadian Tire sorta like your Auto Zone or Orieley's

Awesome you got the transom assembly all put in, I'm right behind you on that one. I have all the parts but haven't gotten to it just yet. I take it you got those corroded studs out of the outer mount just fine?

I ordered the Shark color flooring after seeing yours, should be here on Monday.

Thanks Jb. I couldn't find copper 45's in the home depot. Might have to go to a plumbing house for them.

That sounds like a good idea. I picked up some schedule 40 sweeping 90's, but am not sure how it would react to the gasoline.

I did get those studs out, but ended up using my other gimbal assembly. You'll really like that flooring H20. I would suggest a cheap harbor freight spray gun to spray the adhesive. That worked awesome. (Be sure to take out the filter under the cup!)

Fired the engine up today and got her tuned up. The timing was perfect and the points just needed burnishing. It already had a new cap, rotor, plugs and wires. The oil and filter will get changed tomorrow morning after I buy one of those oil drain hose. Everything's all set up and ready to go.... even got the strap in the hangin' tree.

Pics tomorrow. :D

I spent the rest of the day doing some wiring, fuel line and filter stuff. I''m almost to the point of making a list... maybe another week of work and I can make a short list!

Looks good with the motor back in her. Must have been a little tricky working on that side hill!

Man that's a huge chunk of iron sitting in there. Glad the limb held up to the stress and strain. Now that's what I call a milestone for sure!
