Nice video and the engine sounds great. Sounds like she will be on the water soon. Nice HD unit.

sorry about your gauges man!

Some AWESOME electronics should ease the pain a bit! :D

I sure hope so BF... the reviews are mixed with this Elite 7 HDI

Oh man you used the S word!

I did H20... but the S word is 6 letter word.... so I'm OK.

Thanks WnW!

A splash could've happened last weekend, but that Mother's Day stuff kind of got in the way. I've got tomorrow off to wrap up the list on the Chief, but it's supposed to flood.

Here's the short list:

1. Install both sides of rubrail.

2. Install 3 new gauges. (The ones I messed up  )

3. Install fishfinder.

4. Finish trim on lower windshield.

5. Install inside gunnel covers.

6. Hook up clam shells for bildge area.

7. Install running and anchor lights.

8. Finish swim ladder.

9. Weld up some side bunks guide ons for trailer.

Getting closer!! The fish are bitting and want to get out on Sunday.. or maybe Monday for a SPLASH

Don't worry about the FF reviews, CJ. The Bird guys dis the Lowrance units and vice versa. Sorta like tinnies and the itchy glassers. LOL.

Fine looking machine. The way the stern rails curve to form the swim ladder is just too cool. Go get wet!! :D

I had a thought last week when trying to use my hanging tree as an engine hoist.

Why not weld a hitch onto my cherry picker? The hitch wouldn't effect using the cherry picker for auto engine removal, but should get it up high enough to clear the transom. Oh well.... I'm a gonna do that for my next restore!

Thanks H20.

I welded up some side bunk guide ons. They're in the paint booth and will be installed tomorrow. I'm not sure how the PO's managed without them.... a little bit of wind and these things come in real handy.

I finally got the rub rail channel installed. The fiberglass donor boat has the same rubber part which is in better shape than what I took off the Chief. This Chief's rub rail was beat on like I've never seen. I've got 20 hours of labor in them just to get them Ok to put back on... (and they still look horrible)

Thanks fellows.

I'm pretty much ready for a splash and am just waiting on a couple of new gauges from iboats to get here. Alot's been done to the Chief while the forum's been down. So, here are some pictures:

(By the way, my wife's name is Candy.... and I earned many kitchen pass points with the name)

The pics didn't make it through, CJ. I'll blame the new forum set up. It can't be on your end.

I ended up with 2 vhf radios. I don't know that much about them.... which one would you guys use???

I've not tried to turn this one on yet, but what's up with the 25W / 1W red button. I thought these things where regulated to 1 watt??

The 1 W/25 W and the Hi/Lo button on the Ray Jeff is to cut the transmit power to 1 watt for nearby comms so your transmitting doesn't overload the local receivers. The 25W/Hi is for long range use. I would go with the Ray Jeff only because it's a familiar name. Never heard of SeaTel, but that doesn't mean it's not a good radio,.

The pics are showing now. Outstanding. Time to splash?

Uh, I think I'd use the 1 I KNOW works........... ;)

I didn't sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but I think the 25W/1W button is for when you need to reach your comrades in Moscow........
That's why it's RED :eek::D:laugh:

She looks great CJ, Time to get her on the water. As far as the radio goes ....... I would look into purchasing a new radio especially if you are on open waters vs an inland lake. All new radios are DSC capable and have an emergency button that when pressed (if hooked up to a GPS) will send out the distress signal plus your exact GPS coordinates so potential help can quickly locate your boat. I fish several miles offshore on the Great Lakes and to me this is the most important piece of equipment on the boat. I have mine hooked up to my GPS and not only do I feel confident someone could quickly find me if needed but also if someone is in distress nearby their signal comes over my radio plus their location is shown on my chartplotter so I could go to the exact location the signal was sent from. A life saver for sure.

That's some cool technology WnW. I agree that I need a new radio and probably a new antenna also.

Looking sharp man!!!! Really nice! What's the Est Splash Date (ESD)???

J.

Thanks Jim

Well.... I'm ready to splash right now!!! Chomping at the bit....

I shorted 2 important gauges out that I'm uncomfortable spashing without. I've only ran my motor in the drydock and feel I need a temp and oil gauge working before getting wet. The new gauges should have been here already :grumpy:. Maybe they're on the afternoon truck :D

I'm considering making my own bimini top. Have any of you guys tried to sew that stuff?

JoAnn's has the treated outdoor fabric on sale this week for 50% off. They also have another 20% off for memorial day for the military. That brings that stuff from $21.99 down to $6.59 per running yard. It might work pretty good for a boat cover also?
