Nice work CJ, coming along well.
Looking real cj, you will be splashing her in no time.
Jumpin' Jiminy - She's looking good, CJ. Did she always have a flat floor instead of the step down into the cabin? I like the flat/no step floor.
You sure tore into the Chief this month, the weather must be cooperating for you there. Everything is looking great CJ. The side panels going to have the same vinyl too?
Thanks WnW and Glen. My goal is for a splash sometime next month. :joyous:
Thanks GA. I believe all the Chiefs are flat up to the door, then they step down. The Islanders are the ones that step down. I'm not sure about the starchiefs, but I think they are flat also. I did extend the step down inside the cabin.... it was the only way I could fit through the cabin bow hatch.
Hopefully all goes well and you meet your deadline. Interesting on the decks on the Chiefs. My deck was and still is completely flat from bow to stern with no step down, and from the rivets inside the cabin bins they have never been modified.
lookin good cj and nice progress. white n blue should like good on the sides
I thought all the big cabin SCs had the stepped floor. I guess I was looking at Islanders.
lookin great there. i especially like those seat boxes.
She's turning out great, CJ! Boxes, side panels, everything.
On the step floors - I've probably been looking at too many topless Islanders in Midland, Michigan.
No, not a Starchief, tag shows it is a Chieftain V I/O.
She is turning out awesome cj, real good job on the Nautolex, and vinyl work.
It looks like you're on the home-stretch CJ! great job man! Lookin' really good! :thumb:
Very Nice!
Nice progress man!!! Very sharp... I think I heard it saying "splash me".... "splash me"!! So ya must be getting close!!!
J.
Looking good CJ, those gas lines are a bit of a sticker shock, at least they were for me. Your almost to the battery placement stage now.
I was wondering what your using to cover up all your hard work between sessions.
Thanks H20. I agree those gas lines are expensive. I ordered 10' of filler from iboats at I think $7/foot which was a pretty good price. Now, for the battery placement.... that's gonna be a head scratcher for sure and probably will take the next few months to work out. LOL
I've been using a cheap throw away tarp to cover her up between work sessions. I really need to buy or build a nice cover. Since the big boat covers are expensive and hard to find, maybe I should just build one
Sounds like you missed your chance to talk batteries with someone. All the sewing you've doing is practice for the Big Kahuna - A full boat cover. I wish I could sew without having a finger permanently stitched to the work piece.
Hey cj, the upholstery is really not that hard, more intimidating than anything. Your doing a super job for your first try, wait till you see the results after you do 4 or 5 of these project boats!! Covers are a little difficult, but not terrible, I have not made one from scratch but use the H/D Classic cover from Walmart as a start then custom fit it with snaps and some sewing for a good tight fit.
