Nice truck. Half ton will be fine for your tinnies. Put some air bags on it if it sags more than you'd like but pulling definitely won't be a problem. I like the wheels on it.

Sweet ride...No faster way for the old rig to be "sent to the farm to play with the the other old cars" than to almost ruin a man's sea trial...

Ya know Jas, they say a boat is a hole in the water you throw money into. But you threw money into a hole in the ground and now for the Yukon. I hope there are no more surprises for you now. That Jimmy looks like a nice one.

Yup, that right there pretty much sealed the deal.

Can you get the vision of me trying to roll that trailer down the ramp, by hand, to launch?

I nearly went for it!

So far, cars/trucks/vans have been wayyyyyy deeper holes than boats for me. I do hope this one works out.

I'd be happy with half that:D

So how about a christmas splash for the islander?

Ha, not even close!

Yah the only time I really needed the bigger/heavier vehicle was hauling monster loads of green logs. I'll just take smaller loads now, no biggie.

Our alum boats are way light. I could easily handle a giant glasser with this truck. Not that I'd want to:p

Nice Yukon, I'm sure it can handle most of what you throw at it. I've hauled some monster firewood loads with my 1/2 ton Sierra with no issues.

Good to see the splash video Jas, you people up on the other side of the world are one tough bunch, I don't even get out on the water if it's below 70 degrees F! :p
Seriously, congratulations and I know she'll last you a long time with all the TLC and bombproofing you've done to the little jet. :D
Hoping the new truck lasts as long! :) Well done mate!

So you're going to start your thread with lots of pictures, right?? :) Now that we're finished, or almost, we need to live vicariously through others!!

lol

Yeah... I'll have to take some pictures.

I also changed my transom a little, I noticed some issues with my trolling motor mount so I brought my transom down further to help

It may be a great idea, or a really bad idea... :D

One thing for sure, it was a serious pain in the butt :p

Hi Jas:

The video was truly awesome! I think I speak for all the guys when I say that your threads, vids and general good humor, invention and dedication are inspiring. The look on your face was the feeling we all get when we splash our projects. Great job Jas and I will agree that tinnies may have some good qualities!

Yah, I have a 6' x 16' tandem axle (mobile home axles) trailer that I can load an insane amount of weight on. I'll just not load it quite so much is all. No biggie;)

Thanks a bunch TII!

Never say never. Wet glasser donors - you might just find that real big Islander.

Yah, forgot about hauling a big ol sacrificial glass boat for the BIG Islander. Ah, no matter. That project is a looooong way off!

Re: 1968 15' Starcraft Jet Star Rebuild

Little progress this morning.

I got the balance of the stern light wired up, bow light wired up, tach back to 6P, batt wires re routed so that the fuse panel is now powered by the starting batt and the Minn Kota is on the deep cell all on it's own. So far so good.

I am still struggling with these illuminated switches...

Monkeyed with them a bunch again this morning. I can get the bilge pump working fine and nav/anchor lights working fine. But, the bilge switch light is always on and the nav/anchor switch light I can't get on at all.

I do believe I have all the wiring correct so a burned light is about all I can think really.

Here is the back of the switch if ya feel like troubleshooting...

I'm juuuuuuuuuust about ready to throw in the towel on these. I think I'll swing over to the electronics forum and maybe those guys can find error in my ways.

For some reason I keep wondering if the Bilge is an auto bilge, and that would somehow cause the light to be on....Whatever, I guess probably not.

On a completely un-related, and not helpful tangent, I was wondering if I remember right in reading you shark-hide the un painted portions of the hull?

Yah, actually it's lit weather the wiring to the pump is even hooked up or not. So, that part is independent actually.

Yup, all bare alum has SH on it.;)

I assume the one quart size is more than enough??
Did you source it online or here in MI somewhere? Thinking about doing the same on the bottom as you did.
