What year is your suburban Jas? On my 97 chev I was able to replace just the pump, didn't have to replace the whole assembly, did it myself for around 80 bucks. Just an FYI.

Those parts suck.I'll pay shipping so they don't end up on your boat.

Thanks for watching my back Ben! Now if I could just find a box I'd get em on the way to ya:p

PM me your address bro. That for your new 14 footer:D

It's a 99, 3/4 ton.

Yah, I may take a run at doing it myself. I know I have to drop the fuel tank which will be a real pain. Especially since I have like 3/4 full:facepalm: After that, I have no idea what to do. I'm hoping I can just figure it out.

This morning I finished up painting the bow hatch cover...

I also installed the nave light bases...
P1070472.jpg

On the stern light I dropped it down into the splashwell as the gunwale will be pretty crowded back there...

(Bert's track will be covering the original stern light hole there ^^^)

I like these a lot! Nice, simple, clean install...

Those looks great. The raised bow light is great around a trolling motor.

Thanks EZ, yah pops that bow light right over my TM nicely:) I am really glad that I went with these vs. el cheapo clamp on stuff.

Of note...

These controls I bought came with 18 foot long cables, waaaayyyy long but the price was right! The way I had them hooked...

P1070438.jpg

That was just a bit too tight of a bend there and the lever was pretty stiff.

I pulled some more cable out and made a much bigger loop which made the operation a lot smoother...

Glad you posted these, I was thinkin' last night that I liked the look of your spaghetti better than mine and I'm going to switch a few strands so everything comes from the same side, will tidy up that splashwell nicely.

Next week :p, you'll have to let us know if those cables buzz against the splashwell at certain speeds.

Pertaining to your fuel pump, try shopping around. I replaced one on an s10 once and most places wanted 300 bucks. I went to another place and got the same exact pump for 180. They are a breeze to install once you drop the tank. There is a retaining ring you take out with a hammer and screwdriver, then lift the pump out and set the new one in and put the new retaining ring in. The worst part is undoing the wires and fuel lines, since you can only drop the tank a few inches in most cases to get them undone. Some are easier than others.

Yah, I'll do what I can to zip tie stuff to minimize the buzzing. I'm not a fan of the buzzing really:)

Thanks for the advice buddy, much appreciated. We'll see how this pans out, I know my mechanic wants like $500ish to do it. He's a good guy but where the heck am I going to get 500 bux! I'm still drinking super expensive water:facepalm:

WARNING, WARNING... this is an easy job once you get the tank out, but Please, don't blow yourself up in the process...use a BRASS or Aluminum punch to knock the retaining ring loose...a steel punch could cause a spark and you may not get to finish your boat...Others may have gotten away with it, I am sure, but why risk it...

EZ the angles of both those photos are not very good. The first one doesn't really show the "S" in the cables. It had really pretty tight bends. The second shot makes it look worse than it really is. Don't be sad man, I'll work on it a little and maybe get you some better photos. Hang with me.

Goot point GT, thanks!

just got back from traveling and checking on your progress.......................... still not sure why you are milking this though??? i thought you were a teacher not a farmer :D

looking good JO, i am interested in the stickers for the OB as i have to do the same to mine and find a new gasket for the cover....... time is almost up, tow vehicle or not it's getting close, good thing you run, now you just have to make hitch out of a backpack so you can pull it....

Even if you don't get your truck fixed in time, surely you know some good neighbors. Just substitute "boat" for "plow"!

rrumba - Yah, I should have those decals going on within the next few days I believe so hang tight on that. For the OB I'm just hoping my aim will be on ya know.

lake - I like how you had me "supervising" there rather than pulling, thanks man!

Well the bulk of my day yesterday was getting the truck over to the pro (lil grumpy about that). Such a bummer. I was reminded that I am late on this project again as the day was absolutely beautiful! Would have been perfect sea trial day. Ah well....

The rest was pretty much dealing with leaves (as the trees are pretty much clear now) and cleaning the garage. For boat stuff I did get the Jet cleaned out (it was a big mess) and did some stewing on seating setup. I also pulled apart that switch panel. Here is what it looks like now...

Have a great Sunday guys!:)

I've been missing out on the daily progress reports because of a sudden increase in work schedule... of the "haven't really worked in months" to the "whoa, do i really get a WHOLE day off?" variety. I have caught up when i could, and i love the details you're pushing through. Though no beautiful woodlikeyoushould, the metal fab is solid, functional, and is looking really good. I'm SO looking forward to ... well, two things. Your splash in less than two weeks, and more importantly, fish pics on the boat with you and your kids this coming spring.

I'll blunt the points of the pitchfork if you cut a few corners to put the Jet on the ramp this fall, but if the smile and scale photos aren't incoming as soon as the ice is off, you're gonna hear it from me for real! :)

First (late) snow of the year here, so my lawn ornaments are all getting tarped up for the winter. See them next spring unless i win the lottery and get a shop to work in this winter.

Looks much better now!

I know what you mean on those leaves, I'm going to have to waste time in the yard on those today too. Up to now, every time I have the boat uncovered to work on it, it fills up with dead leaves.

You and me both Ben!;)

Ha! Well, getting there anyway:)

OK, so this photo is for EZ. See not so bad right?
P1070480.jpg

I tried to shift the cables around some, this routing gives me the best operation, ugly or not eh.

I got the hole cut for the tach (and made a big mess)...
P1070483.jpg

Uh, by the way, cutting giant holes in 1/4" thick alum isn't very easy.

Slid the tach in...

OK, so I am thinking out the rest of my dash...

I'm planning two switches (blue) 1) Bilge 2) Nav lights and interior lights. I was first thinking I'd have a separate switch for interior lighting but then I figured I'd just hook em to the nav lights (anchor actually)

12V Outlet (green)

What am I missing? What else should I have there? Layout make sense?

As always, happy to hear your comments:)
