The stern area looks very organized. I don't get what the metal loops are for. Going to bungee the tanks down? In the pic the look too close for that.

Lookin' good.

Thanks guys!

Yah winner, snow is fine, cold is fine, I just need it not to be a freezing cold rain is all really:) That's just not a very fun launch day ya know.

Thanks Michael!

Yah, I'll strap those tanks down with cam straps or something. The loops will actually sit just underneath the tank, strap over top. Makes for a nice snug fit. Once the 5200 cures up I'll strap it down so you can check it out.

Building the platform/bench/deck part of this set up is going to be a challenge. It's gotta be strong, easy to use, easy to access the gear underneath, and (here is the key) I need 100% of that space between the bulkhead and the front of the splashwell. See, I have just barely enough space to slide the fuel tanks and batt out of there. Just barely a sliver of room to get em out.

It'll be a little tricky. I have about a dozen different ways of building it swirling around in my gourde, one of them has to work. I'll need to get some cardboard templates going to see what fits best.

Jas, thanks for the link to your decal guy.
Regarding your stern platform. Maybe a hinged deck would work. You could use some type of beefy piano hinge on the front of the bulkhead and platform and a support bracket that hangs on the top of the splashwell to support the overhanging weight from the bulkhead to the splashwell. When you need to get into the tank storage area just flip the platform forward. Does that make sense. (It was clearer in my head before I had to describe it!)

Yah, that was one of the methods I was thinking ^^^ for the stern deck. Probably the best plan I have at the moment actually. The trick is to have it deep enough to be comfortable to stand on but narrow enough to flip up and clear the splashwell. I need to stew on in more.....

Thankfully I have other things needing my attention while that plan is hatched:)

You definetly want to strap down your battery!!!

Hey Bcast, good to see ya man!:D

Coffee time progress, got the control mounting plate installed.

I used the original factory brackets as well as the rod holder I installed for the mount. I added a piece of alum angle for more support too. 5200 all around, yummy...

Went into octopus mode and...

I'll come back once the 5200 is cured and touch it up with some gray paint.

One less thing to build:)

(you can see a few voids in that wood I used - it's sealed up and the controls should cover up most of that so no biggie)

Looks nice and beefy. Seems like there is room to get behind there with a wrench.

Thanks man! Yah, I think I have just the room I need to get tools back there and bundle up extra wiring and such.

There might even be enough room to stash an extra turkey sandwich or something :)

Maybe you can sell this design to Starcraft once you're finished! I like the idea of a custom turkey sandwich holder.

Thanks doods!!!!:)

Hey, so this morning I went to install the controls only to find out my bolts were too short. Rats!

So, since I have nothing productive to report this morning here is a photo of the big mess in my hull....

Side note...

You'll see those paper bags from ACE laying in there. I don't think I mentioned it but that's where I get all of my stainless fasteners. They have a super selection, very reasonable prices and I can buy only whats necessary as they sell them by the piece. Their selection is ginormous compared to Menards/Lowes/HD and way better pricing. Even better for me is they are right on the way home from my work so I can quick stop and grab what I need.

Just thought I'd mention that.

Cheers:)

Bummer man but there must be other things to do.
My local mom and pop HW store has a great selection too. Very convenient if you only need 1 or 2 pieces. Only 2 miles away.

Should go well with the color scheme I have going on here:)

Grabbed some proper bolts on the way home, really didn't wait till morning to install the controls. So...

Then I remembered, I have everything pretty much wired up. Hey, I could run the T&T on this thing! So I did, worked perfect:D:D
