Re: 1968 15' Starcraft Jet Star Rebuild

Ok, Ok. Now you have two races set-up. With Dozer about getting on the water first and Lake for pinks.

Well. my Canadian bro Glen has quite a lead on me so he may have that race in the bag. I'd have to run a sneak attack to pull off the win there:D

Well, looking back I don't think you have that long. If my math is correct you have 8 days left before the mob comes for you

Holy smokes!! 8 days!!

Ah! Good thing I said...

(I reserve the right to bypass these dates and commence running from the mob at any point in time:eek:)

And then revised...

Given my change in direction in seating and layout, I'm kinda changing up my completion list a bit too. Plus I knocked out a couple of items since my last list:
  • Build/paint and install the console
  • Rig the controls, steering, gauges, electrical, fuel tanks/lines, batts
    (maybe a Sea Trial here)
  • Build and install seating and rod holders
  • Paint and install casting deck hatch
  • Stick on some decals and MC numbers

Maiden Voyage BY TURKEY DAY!

Whew:D

But, I have to hand it to ya Drew - nice work on the convenient choice of post picking in order to insight a mob riot.;)

Not so fast there buddy, if you think real hard and put these together I think we get sea trials by pumpkin day eh!

Sea Trial as close as I can to..

Just given ya a hard time Jason, I think the mob will hold off if you get the jet in the water before Santa hits the roof :D

No pressure Jason Halloweens 8 days away, but I have to work for the next two weeks straight. I did get all my wiring done today though.

Drew/Teamster, I'll keep at it, getting closer every day. I'm pretty sure this will be a mid Nov launch as other projects are taking priority. I had 30 min. on the Jet today and 10 hours on kitchen cabinet painting.

You boys keep me on my toes though:cool::)

Glen, I'll see if I can catch ya in that two week stretch. I think I can do it so long as I wake up early enough in the a.m.:)

10 hours on cabinet painting

Such painstaking work man. I put 3 more hours in this morning and I might be about half way done.

I did spend about 5 min with the Jet this a.m.:(

A guy's gotta do what a guy's gotta do to keep the Admiral happy, but at least you got 5 minutes with the important project.LOL

Jason, I see the pressure you're under. The murmur of the Mob outside waving oars and pitchforks while Skillet Gal is tapping her nails on the bottom of her favorite cookware/weapon saying "You missed a spot". I feel for ya brother!

Yah, she is pretty happy to see paint going up. Real happy actually!

You got it GA, that is about right ^^^^^.

Add to that...

Ol man winter breathing down my neck and the forlorn/forsaken Islander out to pasture.

Yup, the next few weeks will be very telling of my skill, my sanity, and my sleep patterns.

Or, at least how fast I can run from The Mob/Bride with fry pan:eek:

Cheers fellas!:)

GA's got it for sure!

Just keep plugging away bud, the payoff is in sight - the kitchen will get done, Jen will be happy, the Jet will get splashed, the mob will be pleased.

The bad news is that it'll be short lived. I'm sure Jen has has your next house project in mind already and you know the mob isn't gonna let you forget the Islander!

The next big one has actually already started:facepalm:

This a.m. I did some paint work for the Jet stern bulkhead, brushed Rusto - runs and sags. One step forward, two steps back.

Take your time Jason, cus you don't have time to be doing these things twice, "(he he) ;) I find way less runs and sags spraying versus brushing for some reason.

Nail on the head right there Glen. I was working a little too fast trying to get something accomplished and sure enough....

Yah, I seem to be way better with the spray method. I can do very well with the brush so long as the piece is flat/horizontal and gravity can do it's thing. Vertical pieces with the brush, I stink.

I remember when I was 16 years old, working at McDonald's, yelling at my boss: "Do you want it done right or do you want it done fast? You can't have both!"

Jason I think the mob owes you an apology. We're pushing too hard. Slow down, do it right.

THE MOB apologizes to NO MAN!!!

Though, we could hang out and have a burger at the next Great Lakes Region gathering of the Starmada. That would be cool:)

Re: 1968 15' Starcraft Jet Star Rebuild

You get it done yet, Jay? lol.

Ugh. Nope.

This morning I did go check out my less than adequate paint work on the bulk head. With the cold weather here now that paint is going to take a little while to cure enough to sand out my mistakes. Bummer.

My steering cable should be here soon so I am thinking some rigging can get done over the weekend. That should be cool.

I don't care if it's snowing on launch day, this Jet will be launched, all there is to it:)
