I'm pretty sure you will be offered cash for that rig at the dock frequently:D

Looks great, nice color combo:)

That outboard is chomping at the bit to get bolted on.

Thanks fellas! Mucho appreciated!

If that fella happens to be driving a late model 3/4 ton, black or grey Burb with the 8.1 L engine, I happily trade titles straight up;) (not holding my breath on that though)

Yah, I am really digging the color combo. I almost choked at the last second and painted all the topsides grey. I am really glad I didn't, that would have been a big mistake. I think the white goes very well with the white trailer and Starcraft decals ya know. I do like the bare alum shots here and there too:D

Yah, I really want to bolt on that Johnson! The only thing holding me back is cleaning up the transom cap. I should be looking into that ASAP.

Cheers guys:)

Yowza! Nice Jas!

Thanks Bcast! Hey, how is that Starcraft of your coming along;)

So with my morning coffee...

I cleaned all that paint dust out of the hull and got some heat kicking....

It was in the 50's outside and just about 80 in the garage. I've learned that epoxy likes to be warm.

Just for reference, here is what I am using...

I didn't kill myself in cleaning the deck, just got all the dust and loose stuff up. I'll be tossing sand in the last coat of epoxy anyway.

Epoxy down...

I think I'd like to lay down another couple of coats yet. Temps are great this week which will really help that epoxy cure.

Forward motion, eh.

You might have mentioned this before, but did you put anything on the back of the plywood?

What I wouldn't give for a heated workspace!:) Nice!

Re: 1968 15' Starcraft Jet Star Rebuild

Yah, at the time I was working on the bottom sides I had no plans to buy another batch of epoxy. So, I layed down several coats of spar urethane and several coats of Rustoleum. I think that will be fine.

At the time I was thinking the only real way to use epoxy on the bottom sides would be to install the deck while it was still wet. Fully cured I'd be nervous that the epoxy would just end up cracking on me once pushed into the concave position, ya know.

Seems to me the varnish & paint will serve the same purpose, esp. on the underside where it won't see much wear. I epoxied & painted mine and then installed with the curve and didn't think the cracking was a problem. I suppose it might get more brittle if there's along time between application & installation. Time will tell, I guess. Anyway, it's looking good!

Well, on your rig, I think your deck doesn't quite extend as far fworward as mine does. So on mine, the bow most couple of feet have a bit of a steep concave. It was that section that I was most concerned about. The rest of the deck is fairly flat so that is no biggie at all. Yah, I wouldn't worry a wink about your deck cracking or anything like that, eh.

Cheers guys:)

She is looking great, Jas. I guess you have more time to work on her since you can skip showers with no well. Hope that is working now! Mount that Johnnie, get the deck painted, console, steering, controls and seats in there and can't be much more. I'll be happy to see that arrow on the deck pointing forward disappear under paint.

I know man, the kiddos and wife have been going to my sister's place to shower up. Me? Day 4, no shower, and I am starting to stink pretty bad. I've still been working and running in the morning too. I washed my hands in solvent yesterday, does that count for anything?

I was wondering who would give me carp about those arrows on the deck. Well GA, you are that guy. Nice job bro;)

So today, I stayed home from work to keep an eye on a giant hole being dug into the earth here on the property...

I think I'll be getting water from that soon. I know the hole has swallowed up thousands of dollars.

While all that drilling was going on I grabbed that transom cap...

Started with 220 and went through 400, finished with steel wool and laid down a coat of Shark Hide...

Go to Wal-Mart and Get some Mothers Mag and Aluminum Polish Cost is about 3 bucks. Wipe it on your tarnished aluminum and rub till it turns black. Wipe off with a clean rag and buff a bit and it will shine like chrome. It is Amazing!!! I did my Windshield frame and it absolutely looks brand new.
