The cut-down splashwell fits the O/B perfect. Or is it the other way around? One step closer, Jas.

The wife is asking about when to go look at the Fall leaves, you're lucky - just have to open your eyes.

Jason every one of those pictures is avatar-worthy. True boat porn if ever I seen it. Congrats on getting this far.

Keep the wheels rolling pal, them pretty leaves are gonna be on the floor soon....

Yah buddy, either way, the OB does seem to fit the Jet pretty well. I am really looking forward to seeing how it pushes that little 15 footer:)

Yup, I am pretty happy with my set up here. I've got just over 11 acres, and the colors are peaking out just about now. Very nice.

Hey thanks man! But, well, if I swap out my avatar, how will anybody know what I look like?? And, how will they know what my weekend hobby is too?

Yup, I just need to keep my steady (all be it slow) pace and I'll get there:)

Tomorrow, I'll see about getting my transom corner castings cleaned up and installed, hopefully.

Cheers guys:)

Transom corner castings are in!

I had some fit challenges with the additional trim I added to the inside gunwale. But, with a big clamp and some gentle persuasion I got them where they needed to be.

Happy Sunday All:)

really....... what is the hold up, get her wet already....:D

Well guys, I only wish that is all I had:rolleyes:

I still have to finish the deck and interior paint then on to the console build which will take a bit of work. After that, then I'd just have rigging to get it water ready. Last stuff to go in will be seating and rod holders.

I hope you aren't too disappointed about the interior. It'll be pretty simple and straightforward, nothing fancy.

Cheers guys:D

So today was a pretty major kitchen building day. I did manage to fix up the bow plate though...

Start...
P1070149.jpg

P1070148.jpg

Course to fine sanding, finished up with steel wool and a coat of SharkHide to protect...
P1070158.jpg

P1070161.jpg

P1070162.jpg

The top came out nice but you can see the deep gouges on the nose, they were kinda tough to get out so I didn't kill myself working it. I am ok with them, we are going to play the "character" card for those.

Rock on:D

I'm sensing a common theme coming through in people's comments here Jason. I don't think the mob wants to wait till spring to see the thing splashed. I know I don't.

Do you hear chanting?

Jas, a course grade, shaft mount flapwheel will clean up those gouges on your bow cap no worries!

http://www.australianabrasives.com/flapwheels.htm

Yah I actually tried one of those for just a bit on one of the corner castings. The scratches (if you will) that it put in the alum were kinda hard to get out as I went along. So, I opted not to try and get those totally out on the bow piece. They are really quite deep and I would have had to remove quite a bit of material to work em out. They look just a little worse in that photo than actually in person. No biggie.

Oh man, you guys are way ahead of me. I really wish I were that close! You'll see over the next few weeks how much work I have yet to do.

I guess I may have to step up my morning runs just in case you guys start to chase me:eek::eek:

Yup, that is what I am after. Simple. Functional. If it looks good too, that helps fish get in the boat. Um, I think so anyway:rolleyes:

Re: 1968 15' Starcraft Jet Star Rebuild

So I have been waiting for my deck to fully cure so I can sand down some lumps/bumps before the final coat of epoxy. Well, it's still just a little tacky and would surely gum up the sanding paper.

OK, this morning the Minn Kota caught my attention. OkeeDohKee.

I had these big rubber washers that I decided to use in mounting between the gunwale and motor bracket...
P1070165.jpg

I went with them for a few reasons, 1) The gunwale isn't completely flat so this helps "even" things out just a little. 2) It picks up the bracket just high enough to clear the rub rail channel. 3) With the space underneath the bracket now water can flow freely and dry out. 4) They give just a little cushion and make for a solid bolt up.

Knowhattamean?

Man, it was a tough job. I couldn't fit my fat hands in the tight spots under the gunwale very easily but after some wrestling...

P1070168.jpg

This spring, for the walleye opener, I'll be standing right here!
P1070167-1.jpg

Pretty darn happy with that! I grabbed a hold of it and shook, the boat moved before the gunwale flexed. Those backer plates did just what they were supposed to, bomber:)
