Re: 1968 15' Starcraft Jet Star Rebuild
So I have been waiting for my deck to fully cure so I can sand down some lumps/bumps before the final coat of epoxy. Well, it's still just a little tacky and would surely gum up the sanding paper.
OK, this morning the Minn Kota caught my attention. OkeeDohKee.
I had these big rubber washers that I decided to use in mounting between the gunwale and motor bracket...
I went with them for a few reasons, 1) The gunwale isn't completely flat so this helps "even" things out just a little. 2) It picks up the bracket just high enough to clear the rub rail channel. 3) With the space underneath the bracket now water can flow freely and dry out. 4) They give just a little cushion and make for a solid bolt up.

Man, it was a tough job. I couldn't fit my fat hands in the tight spots under the gunwale very easily but after some wrestling...
This spring, for the walleye opener, I'll be standing right here!
Pretty darn happy with that! I grabbed a hold of it and shook, the boat moved before the gunwale flexed. Those backer plates did just what they were supposed to, bomber
