Re: 1968 15' Starcraft Jet Star Rebuild
Ok guys....
At the risk of being pegged as just a
simple minded country boy, here was my plan....
Left Hand - open and hold hatch
Right Hand - grab seat cushion
Left Hand - close hatch

Hey Dave - so you know how a little while back I was yakkin on your thread about how I get 5200 everywhere when I am working with it? Thought you'd appreciate this...
When I was fastening that alum angle to the bottom side of that casting deck piece, I was in a pretty awkward position to mount it. To make things a little easier I tossed a few stainless screws in my mouth rather than trying to reach for them out of the box where they were sitting (old carpenters practice). Well of course I had 5200 all over my hands too.
Later at school I went to the lav and noticed a big white glob of 5200 on my bottom lip from my would be stainless steel screw holder. Yah, I struggle

Morning progress.
I decided painting up the underside of this casting deck would be much easier now rather than after install, so I got that done...
Then I moved over to the deck, sanded everything down, and started laying on epoxy. I was able to hit all the edges, rivet/screw heads and about 1/3 of the deck. That marks the end of my epoxy...
Originally I was just going to paint from here. But, I think I have talked myself into ordering up another batch of epoxy. I really didn't want to spend the extra dough but it's the right move. Over to US Composites in a minute.
Something else I learned this morning - 5200 is nearly impossible to sand smooth!!! Wood, PL, epoxy, aluminum rivet heads, ss screw heads are all child's play compared to that 5200! Yah, that was kind of a pain.
Cheers fellas!
